re: How many of you put your religion before everything else in life? - kingbob
I explored 2 religions growing up, the reform-style Judaism of my mom's family (aka the Bacon-eating Jews) and the Catholicism of my father's side. I ended up choosing Catholicism on account that it felt like a natural continuation of the Jewish Faith, as if Judaism was leading up to a moment that ...

re: The Paradox of Choice - Ted Talk - kingbob
I can see this. I remember going through quite the paralysis by analysis. I waited so long to make a decision on what car to buy that my parents decided not to wait any longer and decided for me that my mom would buy herself a car and I would get hers. I had spent weeks researching for no reason....

re: Do you speak to your neighbors? - kingbob
I speak to some of my neighbors but not all of them. The ones on one side I hang out with about once every month or so. The ones on the otherside I never talk to unless it's to complain about them having a party at 2:00am on a given Wednesday. The neighbors across the street I've spoke to a few...

Merger is to incorporate the buildings and infrastructure so that they are being useful rather than just shuttered. They would be run entirely by the university they are merging with (LSU, Tech, UNO, ect) Southern has an ace in the hole that no other public school (outside LSU) has, a massive al...

Here is a list of Louisiana's 4 Year Public Universities. You get to save 7. Which 7 do you save and which 6 do you close or convert into 2 year community colleges and why? If you can only keep 5, which do you save? LSU LSU Alexandria LSU Shreveport Southern SUNO Grambling LA Tech McNe...

re: Southern girls v. Northern girls - kingbob
Measurables are referring to physical qualities Intangibles are referring to personality, hobbies, skills, and attitudes. When you decide which girl to approach at a bar, you're going off of measurables, when you decide what girl you want to have a steady relationship with, you're going off of i...

re: Southern girls v. Northern girls - kingbob
People who rave about southern girls aren't raving just about their looks. It's the attitude. Most guys actually like girls who desire traditional gender roles in a relationship. Southern girls are more likely to conform to those. There's also a long-standing tradition of civility, humility, and...

re: Southern girls v. Northern girls - kingbob
I should put up a disclaimer that these blatant blanket generalizations only apply to the hotties of each respective region. The South absolutely has the most fatties per capita, but the hotties are definitely a cut above in intangibles. As far as measurables are concerned, West Coast wins in a la...

re: Southern girls v. Northern girls - kingbob
Hot is hot, no matter where they're from. However, there is certainly a difference in personality and temperament from region to region. The Southeast has its southern bells and trashy redneck girls (granted, there are few rural areas in the country without these girls). Southern belles general...

re: Matthew McConaughey: New Orleans is 'a big, beautiful mess' - kingbob
[quote]There is talk of I-10 being dropped over Claiborne north of the US 90/I-10 interchange. The I-10 will cease to exist from that point to I-610. Then, I-610 will likely be renamed I-10 and Claiborne will be widened and upgraded where I-10 used to be. The section of I-10 from the southern I-610 ...
