re: Finally got her all put together. Rate my AR15 OB - bapple
. It's a 16" barrel. 9-1 twist chrome lined.
My bad. The long handguard played tricks on me and made me think it was longer. I think either optic would be good. But one thing to think about - put an ACOG on there, and it is now twice the price of the rifle. Also be sure you lo...

re: Finally got her all put together. Rate my AR15 OB - bapple
Well it could use some optics so 0/10... But in all seriousness it's a good looking piece. I'm not huge on the quad rail handguard especially with a barrel that long because you won't use all the space. But it's still free-floated so your barrel should be very accurate. I highly recommen...
Do the math though. Even if you only save $0.10 per round, after 6000 rounds you have $600 in your pocket to buy a nice new barrel.
That's basically what the article explains. Monetarily, they are both similar methods....

re: Does anyone reload 223 ammo? - bapple
Damn! After only 6K rounds?
But if you look in that link, Federal brass 5.56 ammo was 100% reliable in 10k rounds and still had adequate accuracy afterwards. The ones shooting steel-cased, bi-metal jacket ammo were basically smoothbores....
Bimetal jacket on the bullet, nothing to do with steel casing.
I know this. Most steel-cased rounds use bi-metal jackets.
Do you have any links that prove accelerated wear? All I can find is a bunch of speculation, but I'm at work and filters suck.
[link=(http...

re: Does anyone reload 223 ammo? - bapple
For blasting crap I'll just buy the cheapest steel cased ammo I can find.
Only issue I have with this is how it accelerates barrel wear due to the bi-metal jacket. But besides that, if only shooting a few hundred rounds, steel is very cheap and trouble free....

I can load for slightly less than factory steel cased ammo. Usually around $0.22-$0.23 per round if I remember correctly....

re: Springfield XDm 5.25 Review (New Video) - bapple
pretty sure the slidecut outs allow the gun to stay cooler, release more heat.
I thought about that too since it will be seeing high round counts as a competition gun. My reasoning for the cutout being a detriment really has to do with this gun as a defensive pistol. I guess si...
Did u use science to come to this conclusion?
Watch the video and see. Bagger Joe has a pretty good idea. I don't like that it leaves a large gap for crap to fall in, especially at an important lock-up point. But for competition this point is moot....
