| O-T Lounge|| re: Breaking news: aluminum bodywork is way more expensive than steel - Clames on 1/28/15 at 8:37 am|
Probably not. Steel would not have held up as well as that aluminum alloy did against those sledgehammer blows. Especially not the thin sheet they currently use. GM apparently has enough confidence in the strength of aluminum to use it as upper and lower control arms in the 2014 1/2-tons. I can't im...

You can change how a 22/45 feels. Aftermarket support is phenomenal. Yes they suck to tear down but then again they don't need it for basic maintenance. Mine sees a little clp and a bore snake every few hundred rounds and never misses a beat....

| Outdoor Board|| re: Has anyone had issues with aluminum cased pistol ammo? - Clames on 1/26/15 at 12:26 pm|
I don't think they load the aluminum cased ammo with as much propellant as they would the brass cased version. Probably not a matter of case strength or obduration in the pistol chamber (it would be with rifle ammo) but probably because aluminum doesn't carry away as much of the waste heat as a bra...

I do care and I know a lot more than you about this topic. If it wasn't for FN's development of what we call the M249 SAW, the NATO push for longer range performance than 55gr M193 could deliver, and the USMC requirements all coming together, the 1/9 twist would have been selected as it is the optim...
| Outdoor Board|| re: what are the superior "brands" of the AR15? - Clames on 1/26/15 at 9:45 am|
Do you understand that it isn't just weight but also composition and shape that determines the proper rate of twist? Go look at M856 bullet compared to a M855 and notice how much longer that tracer bullet is. That might clue you in to why that 7 twist was chosen. If a 9 twist barrel shot better than...

| Outdoor Board|| re: what are the superior "brands" of the AR15? - Clames on 1/26/15 at 7:28 am|
1/9 is the standard compared to 1/8 for civilian AR's. Why couldn't they? Because they know it works and does so with less fouling and less wear on the barrel. They know you aren't going to be shooting tracer ammo which is why the military has 1/7 twist instead of 1/9 that was originally suggested b...
Have no idea how it shot though. Never got that far because of the twist.
What did the twist rate have to do with anything? 1/9 will work 45gr to 75gr just fine in 99% of cases. Going 1/8 or 1/7 just shifts that range to the right a little with negligible difference in the most com...
