| Outdoor Board|| re: AR BCGs - Nickle Boron, Phosphate, or Nitrided? - Propagandalf on 11/25/14 at 12:07 am|
The cracking was on chrome plated BCGs where the coating had built up in the corners. Neither Nitriding QPQ or NiB was around in the gun game during the mid 60s when those trails on the M16 were conducted.
We've seen a lot of improvement in the manufacturing process and machines that create AR15...

| Outdoor Board|| re: How long is a 4473 NICS check good for? - Propagandalf on 11/6/14 at 9:15 pm|
The NICS check is actually good for 30 days. So if you go buy a gun and get delayed or otherwise leave without taking possession of the firearm you have 30 days to go back, recertify the 4473 (sign it again) and take the gun.
But every time you purchase a gun you have to fill out a 4473, and eve...

In 2012 there were 800,000+ AR type rifles manufactured in the US. This is just complete rifles, so stripped/complete lowers aren't reflected in these numbers. That would add many many many more to the number.
In 2012 there we...

Not knocking White Oak, but that's not that awesome of a price. You can get LPKs for $25ish without the FCG and ACT triggers for $65ish. If anything it's an average to slightly higher than average price. ...
| Outdoor Board|| re: how many of you have been delayed for a background check? - Propagandalf on 10/8/14 at 10:04 pm|
It's up to the FFL really. He is required to 1.) wait until the NICS calls him and says it is OK to transfer the firearm(s) or 2.) wait 3 regular calendar days without hearing back from NICS.
If three days has passed and he has not heard back from the NICS he is clear to transfer the firearm. No...

In the first report you posted didn't it point out that case hardened 8620 carriers were better than other options, and that chrome plating build up in the corners of the bolts led to failures, so magphos was better?
Both of those seem to be advantageous. I'd like to see the reasoning behind Carp...

I would recommend against a muzzle brake for a 5.56/.223 rifle. The recoil is very manageable. The brake is just going to make it noisy as hell for you and everyone else at the range. Stick with a flash hider, they have plenty of tacticool/mall ninja ones out there.
I'd also avoid amazon if you'...
