I disagree with bunting in that situation. You've got three outs to manufacture 1-2 runs and your .340 hitter is up. Rhymes has little experience bunting in game situations this season and a 2-0 count. ...

There are a lot of bank branches out there with automatic coin counters. It would be a pain in the arse to bring rolled change to one of those branches as the branch staff would have to unroll it all and dump it into the machine....

A HELOC can be used as a stop gap before tapping your Roth funds. You'll pay interest on whatever you draw from that account but the rates are so low that you're (hopefully) outpacing it in your Roth. You also have a lot more flexibility in paying down a HELOC than you do in replacing Roth IRA contr...

I wouldn't dollar cost average a lump sum given that huge chunks would be doing nothing in a savings or money market acct, but I would have a relatively diverse asset allocation with annual rebalancing. Maybe 20% domestic stocks, 20% foreign stocks, 20% bonds, 20% REITs, 20% cash. I haven't really...

A 401k should only be a portion of your investment vehicles, ideally. Thus, you can contribute up to the limit if you want, but there are other options to allocate further investments.
As for allocation, it might be a good idea to choose more volatile options in your 401k because of the contribut...

A few of my teachers in high school indoctrinated us on the merits of Roth IRA long term investing (i.e. invest 8000 by age 20 and you'll have 1,000,000 after retirement). These were the same teachers who ran stock market simulation games.
It was an imperfect and very focused lesson that I'm sur...

Yeah, it doesn't really matter in terms of rates. You shouldn't keep enough in a savings account for fractions of a percentage to have any meaningful difference. Far more important is customer service and convenience. If you're satisfied with BoA and you'd like the convenience of transferring money ...
