Same thing for my dad. His age caught up with him, and he has pretty much called it quits. He ended up having reconstructive surgery on both his elbows (non-judo related) and herniated a disc in his neck after lifting a 6'4", 280 lb man and basically dropping on his head at the dojo one day. I can't say that my '98 Dodge Ram was too bad to me. It was just old, but did what it needed to, and I was grateful for that at 16. My next vehicle, an '01 Sonata, absolutely terrible. A/C didn't work. It just blew hot air all year even when the fan was off. Radio didn't work. Always something wrong...
