re: Explain the love for LaTour love for me... - tomcatrav
Agreed. Trees aren't necessary. But when u can see two major highways and a quizno's (which I love by the way) from pretty much any point on the golf course, it makes one wish that things were a bit more framed in. All this being said, I am almost certainly going to join once it is private, so it...

re: Explain the love for LaTour love for me... - tomcatrav
Never played old waverly. Will look into it. Thanks for heads up. I played fallen oak a few times. Love that course, but at least when I played it, the greens weren't nearly as fast as squire. Much more to it tee to green though. But thank god they re-did those bunkers! ...

re: Explain the love for LaTour love for me... - tomcatrav
I haven't played squire this year, but the greens certainly wowed me. I have never seen anything even close to that fast. The course itself was relatively easy tee to green. But if u r on the wrong part of the green over there u r praying for a 3-putt. I watched a guy lip out a 3 foot uphill...

re: Explain the love for LaTour love for me... - tomcatrav
Young course with no trees at this point. Layout is interesting, but not particularly hard. As you say, it's in a cane field, so the surrounding landscape is pretty blah. However, short of squire creek and maybe a few others, I don't think you will find better greens in the state right now. The...

re: I have $300-$400 to spend (golf clubs) - tomcatrav
I would find a used set of irons for 250 or so off eBay and a decent used driver for 100-150. Then wedges, then hybrid(s), then putter when u got the dough. ...

re: Golf in south Louisiana this week (week of The Open) - tomcatrav
There are some really good teams playing. But 63 63 is a tall order. I think double digits will top 10. After that it's just a matter of one or two teams getting really hot. If 12 doesn't win it, it will be close. But , we will know soon enough! ...

re: Golf in south Louisiana this week (week of The Open) - tomcatrav
Been lurking these threads for a while, figured I'd finally post. Played English Turn today for the first time in forever. Getting ready for LGA 4ball there this weekend. Course was in great shape. Greens are perfect speed and hold as well as any greens I have ever played. Pretty hot, but en...

re: SN Coach Ranking. Which SEC coach would you NOT trade Miles for right now? - tomcatrav
The only person on that list that is a definite upgrade from Miles is Saban. cases can be made for and against several others. Personally, Saban is the only coach I would rather have. Jury is still out on Freeze and Malzahn, although I expect both to continue to do well. ...

re: LA golf course personal rankings - tomcatrav
I played it a couple of years. Very well organized when I played. Decent, not great courses. I've started doing a couple of lga tournaments every year and have had a really good time with that. And agree with those that said Oakwing. Lga 4ball was there last year. Very nice course. ...

re: LA golf course personal rankings - tomcatrav
Squire Creek is completely in a class by itself. U club Ccl Oakbourne Bluffs, oak harbor, atchafalaya are all great layouts, but just tend to not be as well manicured. The national at Lake chuck was in unbelievable shape when I played it. The pro shop/trailer left a little to be des...

Need a versatile wardrobe. Get several pairs of relatively cheap, but comfortable DARK pants. (Olive, gray, black, navy, etc). Get several well fitting, non-iron, piqued dress shirts. I get mine from Vanheusen. I rarely wear nice shirts (Ie Brooks Brothers) to work b/c of blood and other ...
