The game has changed radically from the Tubs Era at AU. To put it in perspective, in 2004, when we were #1 in scoring defense, there were only 3 BCS teams that averaged more than 36 points a game on offense - coincidentally, #2 & #3were the two teams who met in the Championship, USC and Oklahoma...

And with all that defense, we still managed to lose 21 games over those six years averaging 3.5 losses per season. "Defense wins championships" is one of the most overrated bromides in the sport....
