It has been almost 15 years since I've run competitively, but I think one of my best performances was a 10 mile race I finished in right under an hour. Sub 6 minute miles for 10 miles...I'm not sure how I did it....

I'm fortunate enough to have been sent by my employer. They sent me back in 2010 as well. It is a great conference that I recommend everyone try and attend at least once. You get a free exam while you're there, so it is motivation to study and make an attempt....

Depends on what you want to do in IT I suppose. An entry level cert like an A+, Net+, etc. certainly isn't going to hurt no matter what area you want to focus on.
