re: Any recommendations for Wi-Fi heatmapping software or something similar? - LSUDropout
ekahau has a free product called HeatMapper. I have never used it before, but I've heard good things about their site-survey tool. [link=(http://www.ekahau.com/wifidesign/ekahau-heatmapper#!overview-0)]HeatMapper[/link]...

re: correction: Comcast upgraded us to 75mbps (but getting 90 on speedtest) - LSUDropout
Do you have ANY 802.11b clients connected? Some old device laying around the house? When it comes to wireless, once a device of an older standard connects to the BSSID, all clients connected to the BSSID can suffer regardless of their capabilities. [link=(http://blog.merunetworks.com/blog/2009/...

re: What measures do you take to ensure your pictures don't get deleted? - LSUDropout
I use CrashPlan. It's been excelent or me. I have already had to restore hundres of pictures after my wife's old laptop crashed. Worked like a charm and we didn't lose a single file. For a while I was using an external drive, but I didn't have it automated and I did a poor job of manually back...

re: Cisco Certification Question - LSUDropout
Route I took was CCNA -> CCNA Wireless -> CCNP -> CCNP Wireless. This worked well for me because I do a fair amount of wireless work and it provided a lot of instant, real world, usability. That said, I believe the CCNA Security is a great certificate. You'll need a LOT less time invested to ...

re: VLAN noob need assistance - please explain tagged, untagged, trunks, etc - LSUDropout
Yeah, I've actually never logged into a HP switch before (I'm almost ALL Cisco), but I've had to learn the difference in lingo over the years from trying to help friends/customers with configuration on their HP gear. To the OP, it sounds like what you're trying to do can certainly be done, but wi...

re: VLAN noob need assistance - please explain tagged, untagged, trunks, etc - LSUDropout
One problem here is that Cisco and HP use these terms VERY differently. For HP, a "Tagged" port is generally the same as a "Trunk" port on a Cisco device. Also, a "Trunk" port on an HP is simillar to a "Port-Channel" on a Cisco device. So you need to be careful when using these terms as it can ...

re: Converting MKV video to MP4 - LSUDropout
Handbrake can re encode MKV to MP4, but it takes awhile. I use Subler which remuxes the MKV to MP4. It only takes a few minutes to do a ~4 GB file where Handbrake takes about an hour, depending on your processor speed.
I'm guessing the file size remains unchanged, yes? I use Handb...
