re: Listen to the german call of Von Millers first strip sack - nvasil1
does the nfl have a substantial fanbase in germany?
I'm sure they do from NFL Europe days. During the last few years of the league's existence, I think the majority of teams were based in Germany....
Does his play ON THE FIELD warrant induction? That is the ONLY question.
That's supposed to be the standard. But if Stabler was still alive, I don't think he gets inducted this year, quite honestly. 'Dr Z' Paul Zimmerman was really anti-Stabler and people like Peter King seemed...

re: T.O doesn't make the HOF - nvasil1
Totally agree. For example, Steve Atwater retired in '99 and he's still not in, which is ridiculous to me. And you're right...it doesn't really matter when TO gets in or when anyone gets in (although I'm sure the dead guys would rather be alive for their induction). I think the Marvin Harri...

re: T.O doesn't make the HOF - nvasil1
Good link. I don't think it's debatable that TO was a drop machine. But again, he still put up his numbers with them and targets aren't solely defined as either a catch or a drop....
Yea; he only started out with Jerry Rice & Brent Jones
Yeah, started out. TO also enjoyed having JJ Stokes and Freddie Mitchell on the other side of the field.
Harper joined Irvin in 1991 & left for TB 4 years later.
I know. 2 Super Bowl wins with him. 1 without....
Are you trying to say if someone had 8 catches a game off 25 targets Is better than 7 catches a game off 12 targets???
Again, I didn't say that. That's why I asked if you posted what the actual gap of drops is. I don't know what it is. That's also not taking into account the...
ignored the gap in drops TO had
Have you posted that gap yet? I'm sure there is one, but the fact that TO had those drops and still put up better numbers than almost everyone in the history of the game pretty much illustrates how great he was.
Are you saying b/c leadership ...
Using STATISTICS only would be a mockery. Leadership is important & Irvin was the soul of the 90s Cowboys .
At least stats are quantifiable. Leadership is intangible. And while none of these guys are saints, I don't recall many team leaders getting arrested and suspended for blow. ...

re: T.O doesn't make the HOF - nvasil1
If it took Michael Irvin 3x who was a 3x SB winner & champion, NO WAY TO gets in on first ballot. That would be a mockery.
The HOF is an individual award and Irvin isn't anywhere near TO statistically. Using Super Bowl wins as a metric for when someone should be inducted is a mocker...

re: Tony Dungy HOF? - nvasil1
Agree about Holmgren and Johnson, too. I have no problem with Dungy making it, but his induction seems premature, especially before those two. I know he didn't have a good playoff record, but George Allen had the 3rd best winning percentage in league history and he didn't get inducted until 2002...

re: Does anyone remember 1991 Philly Eagles defense? - nvasil1
I was young, but I remember them being really good and I was a fan of Seth Joyner. They definitely aren't at the forefront of my mind as an all-time great D, but those stats are pretty remarkable....
They should have spent 5-10 minutes on the Bears after the Super Bowl and then wrapped it up.
The more recent stuff about this team made it more interesting to me. Wrapping it up after the Super Bowl win would have made this mostly a rehash of everything that's been done before. ...
