re: Anyone here ever run for public office? - Gr8t8s
Republican. Very interested. Mainly depends on the incumbent. If he retires like expected....absolutely running. If not.....dude raised nearly $200k this campaign cycle. Tough to beat that in a state rep race. ...

Couple more pieces of advice: Don't listen to your inner circle about your chances. They only talk to people that are pro-you. Skewed statistics. I had the Sherrif and judges telling people that they thought I had it won. They, though, had watched the debates, read the articles, etc. they kne...

And even though I'm doing all this talking about how bad it was.....I loved every damn minute of it. I will run for something in 4 years. Either state rep or commission again. ...

re: Anyone here ever run for public office? - Gr8t8s
I went door to door myself, but I probably only got to 500 or 600 homes. I'm self-employed but work 10-12 hours a day. Very tough to run any campaign of size with no money and a full time job. Makes me realize why our choices of officials are so bad. ...

re: Anyone here ever run for public office? - Gr8t8s
Bingo. And I spent my own money on the campaign, so I had 50% less than the other guys (5 total in our primary). Terrible catch 22. People won't give you money if they don't think you can win......but you can't win without the money. ...

re: Anyone here ever run for public office? - Gr8t8s
It's very hard to win a ver local office like commission unless you're the "guy everyone knows". At least around here. I was the youngest person to ever run for commission in my county. There hasn't been a commissioner younger than 55 in my lifetime. I had a great platform, well spoken, great pu...

Ran for commission in the last primary. By far, the most qualified, but too young and lost to the guy who had been foreman for the past 8 years.......because no one "knew me". Lost by 400 votes. ...

-----------------SPOILER-------------------------- The movie was enjoyable, yet predictable. Once Murph started talking about the Ghosts, I knew where the story was headed. Here's what bugs me. When he's getting ready to leave, Murph has figured out the message to be "stay". She tells hi...

I think the better question is: "would Brady be the qb he is without meeting UA in the bowl game?" Alabama made him a better QB. Print the fricking shirts. ...

I don't even own a long zoom lens any more. I only shoot interiors and architecture. Pretty much everything is around 24mm for me. I own the nifty fifty, but it never comes out of the bag....

I was able to find my 17-40L on eBay used for $400. Great condition. Pretty good lens......but I wish I would have waited and gotten the 16-35 f4. So much shaper around the edges....

The 18-55 kit lens is probably going to be the most versatile for the price......and the one you'll use the most. It just really depends on what you plan on shooting. Kids, family, outdoor, vacations, etc.? Go with the 18-55. Shooting sporting events, basketball games, wildlife, etc.? Get the 75-...

re: Paging DSLR gurus - Canon T5i bundle question - Gr8t8s
The Memory cards are like $12 for a good one from Amazon, the UV filters are just a few dollars, that's probably a $25 tripod, those off-brand batteries can be bought for just a few dollars a piece (I had 9 of them). If you want that lens (which is bottom of the line), then price the lens and the...

I'm a Photographer and Need Storage.....Recommend my solution. - Gr8t8s
As stated, I'm a photographer. I go through a lot of storage. In the past 4 months alone, I've eaten up almost a terabyte on just RAW images. I'm looking for a more advanced solution for backing up and storage. My current thought process is to go with a NAS system, but I feel that it may not be a...
