re: ~C~O~N~T~I~N~U~I~T~Y~ - corndeaux
1) win games and look good doing it, so that players take notice and we start to trend towards a "contending" team. And 2) keep the roster flexible enough and acquire or maintain assets, so that we can trade for or be able to sign a star. We need a 2nd banana.
Well said. + inf...

There's nothing wrong with start you're saying about continuity. But the Warriors comparison is problematic. They were a top 5 defense and a mid pack (w/ Steph freaking Curry) offense 2 years ago. They had back to back 50 win seasons, including a trip to the 2nd round where they scared the Spurs....

re: Our Salary Cap situation as it stands, and the Tax Line - corndeaux
I agree. Especially for a franchise, like the Pels, that is trying to build up its reputation across the league. The Spurs waited with Leonard b/c of the cap hold. But they're also the SPURS and have built up that sort of equity....

Good news for the Pels. Clips will fall back in a big way and Jordan doesn't help Dallas that much IMO...

Yeah. The market for 3 and D has exploded. Secret is out. I will say that if Q plays like he did here, he is a hell of a find....
fact that we seemingly don't have any desire to upgrade at wing is extremely disappointing.
I agree, but the chance to do that was before this summer. Too late now. I think Ajinca became a reality when they realized the MLE wouldn't get them even a guy like Aminu on the wing. Ro...
Orlando has Frye and Boston has Olynyk.
Orlando is ready to move on from Frye and Olynyk is a hobo Anderson. Boston can generate 3s, they just don't have anyone that can make them. Sacramento would be good. Would like to get more than just Tucker though and I doubt they give up...

re: Our Salary Cap situation as it stands, and the Tax Line - corndeaux
Given the Ajinca/Asik deals, this is the time to figure out the Anderson market. If you can get Tucker and another piece, seems like the Pels would jump on it. What's a reasonable 3rd team? Boston? Orlando? ...

Suns are dumping deals to make a run at LMA. Anyway the Pels could swing Tucker in a dump?...

re: Greg Monroe to Milwaukee - corndeaux
I don't think it's a bad fit at all. Just a bit of a weird one; there is absolutely nothing wrong with that either. Not sure Monroe can be a defensive anchor, but maybe he doesn't have to be with Giannis being an octopus on the weak side (plus they still have Henson, Zaza, and a Plumlee). High/L...

Huh. Good player, weird fit. Jabari, Giannis, Monroe, MCW, Middleton. Very interesting. Bucks were already a League Pass favorite, might have overtaken the Wolves for the #1 spot....

re: Asik signs 5 year deal for $60 million, 5 year not guaranteed - corndeaux
So all of his money on this contract counts toward the cap, though? I know with Houston for whatever reason some money didn't count toward the cap. Any idea how that worked?
Yes. All of his guaranteed money will count towards the Pels cap. Morey used an arcane rule/technicality ...

re: Asik signs 5 year deal for $60 million, 5 year not guaranteed - corndeaux
That's why I'm a little confused by the Ajinca signing. But maybe they realized the MLE wing market would be trash and decided Ajinca at $5M was better than whomever they could get with the MLE....
Can one of our cap guys explain how the bird rights work with Asik's contract please.
Very, very roughly: the Pels acquired Asik's Bird Rights (aka Veteran Free Agent Exception) when they traded for him. He qualified for VFA status because he hadn't been waived or a UFA in three ye...
look asik will have a kind of big deal next year, which is irrelevant, and then he'll be making the MLE in teh new cap.
Exactly. And to be honest, $11M for a competent (despite what some may say, Asik is competent) starting 5 is not even that big.
everyone talking about ...

re: Asik signs 5 year deal for $60 million, 5 year not guaranteed - corndeaux
That's fair. You would also think a more flowing system will end some of the "your turn, my turn" we saw. It's just weird because of the injuries. Evans has basically played a season as the starting pg. That's not his role, but he was fairly good at it. How do things change w/ health? If he's co...
we will have a few serious suitors for him when you consider his salary compared to the new reality of NBA money.
Could very easily be right. My craw was stuck with the idea that they can snap their fingers and move Evans to get cap space to then land Durant/max guy next summer. ...

re: Asik signs 5 year deal for $60 million, 5 year not guaranteed - corndeaux
Yeah. I'm fine with Evans. He's a decent player. He's on a decent deal. He's played hard for this team and performed well. I just don't see the league wide value that will make an Evans deal as easy as some portray it. But that's me. Next summer will be wild. Nearly everyone will have max cap ...
18/5/5 guys don't grow on trees
So why would they want to move him? How many teams want/need a pg/creator w/ shaky shooting and defense? If you don't give him the keys to the offense, what is he bringing? If Holiday is healthy, I'm very curious to see how Evans plays/reacts. Ag...
