I do think that it is probably true that during season you need to actually throw more regularly (not pitch) during the season to strengthen the arm. Agree that it would actually be a bad thing to not routinely throw and then just hop on the mound and throw all out....

Well, I am starting to see the "coach that used to play in the majors" comfort might not be what it is cracked up to be. It amazes me how some I have seen are so competitive that they let kids do things that they did not do all the way up. At what level other than travel ball do guys throw 60 pitche...

Yes, it is controversial right now. Most of the literature shows the main problem with arm injuries is due to overuse (throwing too much). Lots of good articles from Dr. James Andrews. I am just saying it is hard to understand how that works. I know someone that had a child die from leukemia. They prayed as much as they breathed. That didn't change their belief system but it was difficult watching it unfold with them believing the whole time that prayer was going to change the out...

The vast majority of power hitters at higher levels pick up their front foot. If they don't, they are usually huge. No need to argue about it. Just watch LSU hitters or any major league game. Any coach that teaches rotational hitting without a stride is stuck in the 80's whether they are a high school coach or not. Although we often repeat that comment about living through your kid, I have recently seen a guy that just finished a long successful major league career ride his kid's arse unmercifully. Not sure if "trying to live thru your kid" is the best way to phrase it....

Agree with a bat behind feet. Also can take Bp where there is a white line for the batter's box. Can physically show her when she is stepping out. Then tell her if she steps out again you are going to throw it at her. Usually works better though if another coach says instead of dad..ha....
