re: New stadium in Omaha, not small ball/homerun related - omaha4LSU
The Storm Chasers tried to negotiate, but the expense was prohibitive and Sarpy County proposed building their own smaller stadium that they would have priority in, so... Werner Park is used for some high school games and they've had a few concerts too in order to support it. And the Storm Chasers ...

I posted earlier, thought of a couple other additions. Good food within easy driving distance - Italian, go to Malara's at 22nd and Pierce. Greek - Greek Islands on Center and about 38th. American/sports bar - Dundee Dell on Underwood and 50th. A few local festivals such as Papillion Days this w...

re: Tailgating at CWS - omaha4LSU
Speaking as someone from Omaha, there isn't NEARLY as much tailgating as there was at Rosenblatt. There are a few isolated empty lots, not even sure how you go about reserving those. There are a few hardy people trying to do it in the parking lots, but you have to look hard to find a tree. With hot...

re: (Official) Omaha Traveler's Guide (Updated Tuesday) - omaha4LSU
I live in Omaha. Some things to do - well of course the zoo which is adjacent to where Rosenblatt was, so old time LSU fans will remember it - it is one of the top 10 in the USA. Also, there is horse racing simulcast at Horseman's Park (69th and Q St), there are casinos just across the river in Co...

re: Question for LSU fans about Omaha - omaha4LSU
I live in Omaha. The new stadium is downtown so you usually have to park in lots, some of the Creighton University lots are available as are other business lots. There is some street parking but not a lot. The bulk of the fans from out of town do stay in the hotels that are adjacent, no parking w...

re: Ticket question for those that have been to Omaha - omaha4LSU
I live in Omaha. Yes, there are almost always tickets available outside the stadium, prices can vary a lot. The GA tickets don't guarantee you entry, just if you are the first however many in line, and those GA seats are all in the outfield in the direct sun. If it's like previous years, there will...

re: Omaha: "I miss LSU" - omaha4LSU
I also wanted to say that yes, Omaha misses LSU. Yes, partly because you are fun. But mostly because your teams are good and your fans treat our city like a good guest should, with respect and courtesy. That is NOT true of all schools, I can attest to that. It is so easy to get behind LSU when we...

New article today, not about LSU but about the stadium, which you might find interesting. My favorite part was: "And for a lot of the old-timers, the new place will never quite have the same feel as our old stadium on the hill. How can it? We traded unique for generic. We had a chance to put Om...

re: First Hand Reports from Omaha - omaha4LSU
I live in Omaha. I went to the game Sunday afternoon. On the plus side, parking is pretty decent, access is pretty easy if you don't mind walking. Creighton University has some student lots where you can park for $5-10, maybe 6-12 blocks away from the stadium. No tailgating though. I hear there ...

re: How hard was it to get tickets at Omaha? - omaha4LSU
There are some tickets available at the box office each day for that day's games. Office opens at 10 for days with afternoon games, noon for days with only evening games. You need to get there early and stand in line. And then there aren't many tickets available. Supposedly, they have tickets "t...

re: How hard was it to get tickets at Omaha? - omaha4LSU
As teams get eliminated, more tickets flood the market (or maybe there is just less demand). Tickets to the early games will be less plentiful, and my observation was that this year, the brokers were significantly more expensive than last year. With next year being Rosenblatt's last, would anticip...

re: Rosenblatt - omaha4LSU
I think we should have called the NCAA's bluff. I don't think they'd have moved the CWS. There was another option to renovate Rosenblatt (I think the big deals are more restrooms, real bullpens, more room in the concourse...), and it would have been much cheaper. There is an over-riding polit...

Great Show, LSU!!! OK, those of you who were here in Omaha, tell me your honest opinion. Is Rosenblatt such a miserable place that Omaha should tear it down? "The difference in the fans is that the locals in Omaha actually like LSU fans and pull for them whenever they play. Now I can see why, not much to choose from." Omaha loves LSU. I heard the Heat Index could be as high as 117. Good corn-growing weather, but sucks for those people in sections A and B in front of that glassed-in place - the sun in your face, and the heat reflects off the glass behind you, and the structure blocks any hint of breeze.
