re: Why are women rarely more than distractions in major films - Jimbeaux
I really don't even think I agree with your premise. Jennifer Lawrence has put in some great work recently. Hell, there's loads of great women's roles, just not in action films as much. I'm thinking about the best films I've seen recently, and there were plenty of quality female roles. ...

re: Another week. Another teacher. - Jimbeaux
Not to mention, the kid is in school, and the teacher presumably "works". Does the 11 year old kid (ELEVEN!) carry around the cell phone all day at school? Do schools allow this? Is this woman her regular teacher? Is it a "self-contained" class, or do the teachers/subjects rotate throughout ...

re: Ted Cruz's New Campaign Slogan: "Jesus loves you, but I'm his favorite." - Jimbeaux
Nowhere in that article does it demonstrate that Cruz said anything remotely like, "Jesus loves you but I'm his favorite." There's plenty of room to criticize Cruz's overindulgence on religious themes for political gain, but why be so dishonest about it?...

re: The term "RINO" is obsolete - Jimbeaux
It was never an apt moniker. The truth is that there are a variety of types of Republicans and there always has been. Mostly they are identifiable as being "not progressives". One of my favorite political pastimes is watching two supposedly "pure" Republicans apply purity litmus tests on each ...

re: And so it begins... - Jimbeaux
And not a single post of substance in this whole thread. Those critics of Cruz calling him a blow hard, well, pot meet kettle. I don't have much knowledge of Ted Cruz. He's strongly opposed to Obamacare, and was willing to filibuster to make a point about it. Point made as far as I'm concerned...

re: Anyone bought a Gorilla Playset? - Jimbeaux
In all honesty, a lifetime warranty is a waste. Your kids will out grow the set by the time they're 10 years old. If you have a few kids within a span of 7-8 years, minus the first 2 years of your first child, you only need the thing to last 15 years max. You'll be tearing it down to make room f...

Seeing Porky's at age 8 in the theater with your parents? I think you win this thread. Mine was an Officer and a Gentleman. I think I was 15. I went with my church youth group! Our leaders were a young couple in their 20's and they were a bit wild. Needless to say, neither my parents nor Fr....

re: Mother Jones undercover reporter outed at Winn Parish prison - Jimbeaux
Just a little FYI. The amount of influence that a single person can have on the operations of a prison is astounding. That person is the warden. That is true for a private prison as well as for a government run prison. A good warden who sets the proper tone and who hires a quality staff can make...

re: Mother Jones undercover reporter outed at Winn Parish prison - Jimbeaux
Well, the legislative auditors, for one. Prison accreditation companies for another. The LA Department of Corrections for a third. Then there's legitimate news outlets, both national and local. The fact that you want a "biased" view is telling. I'm pretty sure I know what Mother Jones will sa...
