re: Lucky Rooster for dinner tonight - lilwineman
Wine by the glass prices there are ridiculous. Had a grand cru Riesling from Albert boxler innalsace for $8 a glass and billecart salmon brut chsmpagne for right at $12 or 13 a glass. I enjoyed my banh no even though it wasn't traditional....

re: Doris Metropolitan (N.O.) - lilwineman
The menu has changed a little since I went, but everything we had was great. The "confidential cut" is a great piece of meat not served too often. See if you can figure out what it is. One of the owners, Etai sp?, should be walking the floor. Cool wine list as well for its size. You should thoroughl...

The cold weather has caused a slow early run this season. The spillways are finally starting to really open up. My dad is it the compound crawfish bait business and it won't be too long before prices drop. They will take a decrease after mardi gras but not a huge jump for a little while....

I've heard it's a second satellite location. Smaller and more of a bistro type atmosphere versus the fine dining look at the other. They seem to be doing just find off of Acadian and Perkins and the jubans actually own the building they are in there. TIFWIW...

re: Wine in a Blender? - lilwineman
I think the wine will improve but there are certain microcosms pertaining to soil, temperature, alcohol levels, cooperages, specific forests of wood sourcing that can not be put into a bottle of 2 buck chuck. I will strongly agree to disagree on this. I've hyper decanted wine before and as it improv...

re: Wine pairing with steak and scallop? - lilwineman
Pairings are great for wine dinners but my rule if thumb is I will drink whatever the hell makes me happy that night usually. It's a product I'm not all that familiar with. Could possibly be doerries international for the distributor which doesn't do much in the Baton Rouge market. Look at it this way though. The 64 sold for over $450k....and it was only 750ml. That mean the bottle there is equivalent in volume to 8 of the previous ones. So in all actuality, it had a higher price tag but was much less per ounce. That's $3140 an ounce versus $18,400 an ounce for the 64 year. :p...
