I would say it really depends on your risk tolerance. As said above, don't expect to see much growth from MCD, I mean how many more McDonald's can there be? If you regularly park in public areas or don't have a driveway then I would advise paying it. They have been booting people like crazy in Nola lately. They'll boot you if front of your house.

I totally agree with your premise and this has crossed my mind immensely in my early stages of investing.
I read so much about diversifying your portfolio to spread your risk, and re-allocating assets as you age. In my mind, and I will prefix this by saying I am very early in my investing career...

I don't think the price really mattered to Facebook at this point. Sure $19 billion is alot, but if you look at the structure of the deal it was about $4 billion in cash and the rest in stock and future stock options. They didn't simply write a check for $19 billion.
