You would have to take it in context. If the state ends up making up the cost by an increase in tax revenue due to the jobs supported by the film industry then it is a net gain. I would...

But wouldn't imposing a limit on salaries in essence limit your ability to attract talent to the production? I am not familiar with the industry, but, assuming million dolar salaries are fairly common, a salary cap would elimina...

How does a salary cap help cut our budget? It doesn't decrease tax credits, and it limits a private entity's ability to hire. Plus, the growth of film in Louisiana has been credited with a good bit of prosperity in the state. I'm not sur...

This kind of a non-argument. The government foots the bill for birth defects secondary to nicotine and alcohol abuse during pregnancy as well....

 | re: Car Paint Protection film questions - Dumplin on 2/27/13 at 9:14 pm I have heard reports that the plastic can become yellow or cloudy over time, so it may end up looking worse in the long run.
edit: though that is most likely from long term UV exposure, so if you keep the car in a garage that may not be an issue....

 | re: Trying to strengthen/build up leg muscles - Dumplin on 2/11/13 at 3:09 pm Whatever you end up doing, my word of advice is to not squat in a smith machine. You are more likely to hurt yourself in a smith machine than under a barbell, especially if you take the time to get your form right.
And low-bar squats are easier on the lower back as well, so keep that in mind if y...

 | re: Why are bidets not standard in the United States? - Dumplin on 2/6/13 at 4:40 pm Bidets are more for freshening the nether regions after a long day without having to take a shower. It is more of a necessity in Europe where the old plumbing and infrastructure (and culture probably) does not allow for or does not encourage frequent showering. Most Americans shower more than once a...

 | re: Southerners who hate the South? - Dumplin on 1/21/13 at 1:06 pm Because "redneck" now conjures up the image of an uneducated, prejudiced, unkempt bumpkin with no desire to open their minds to anything outside their limited point of view.
It doesn't really imply honest, hard work any more....

 | re: GM quailty going down the tube?? - Dumplin on 1/16/13 at 3:48 pm GM quality has been in the gutter since the 80s. The exception to this has generally been the trucks, which have been so simply engineered and designed that nothing could really go wrong. Anything not on a truck platform has been awful for a while.
I think the engineering and design of the lineup...
