I'm not into the "black rifle" culture, although I have nothing against it. Having said that, I'm curious as to the civilian applications for a reticle like this? Again, my intent is not to "flame" anyone---just looking for a little education. :cool:...
During the Great Depression, many deer populations were almost hunted to the point of almost near 'extinction' in many areas. Same can be said of many other types of game.
It took several decades afterward for many of the wildlife populations to recover from overhunting.

| Outdoor Board|| re: Is .25-06 caliber any good? - TigerOnThe Hill on 8/26/14 at 12:21 pm|
The 25-06 is good for any big game you'll come across around here. As mentioned, buy a 120 grain load (Remington Core-Lokt and Winchester Power Point are fine; the 25-06 doesn't require loads costing $50/box.)
As far as scopes, one way to save a little money w/o sacrificing quality is to buy a r...
a headshot with .55gr or 62gr seems to do fine on all hogs.
Well, a brain shot w/ a 55 gr or 62 gr will kill an elk as well, but that doesn't make the 223 a good elk gun.
The question for the OP is what type of hog hunting does he want to do? High tech w/ suppressors, thermal ima...
In that case I would skip subcompact/compact and jump to a full size.
I agree. As Bapple points out, if the main use is truck gun/home defense, there's no need for a compact model; a full size model is easier for most to shoot than a compact and will have an increased mag capacity. The Accubond should be a good choice. I'd also consider the Nosler Partition or other controlled expansion bullets. W/ the kind of velocities a 264 WM can generate, I'd personally stay away from more fragile bullets and would lean toward a stouter bullet that'll reliably provide a nice exit wound. ...
