My buddy who introduced me to Turnpike Troubadours is a Bossier City guy, and I'm actually hearing them get a good bit of play here in ATX (on the local radio as well as at a college bar near UT)
In turn, I pointed him to Keller (Williams) and the Keels:

Mannn, I need some more Dumpstaphunk in my life. Here in ATX, at a single venue, I will have caught Trombone Shorty, Rebirth Brass Band and Soul Rebels this year, and Better Than Ezra is on their calendar too.
For me personally though, I'd pick Rebirth over j...

My bottom line? We may not be on the same team, but we're playing for the same goal: Louisiana pride.

For me, getting into jam bands was a puzzling experience. Finding a starting point can be overwhelming when there's just so much to hear.
As I've personally found with several genres, if you can be introduced to the music in a palatable manner, seeing if it fits right for you will be more effect...

Here's a small album I pulled together last year after the Kent State fiasco.
The Va. Tech. has to be the most offensive, hands down, but I couldn't find a picture of that one when I put this album together (not that I put a whole lot of effort into it, honestly).
