Not surprising to see some spin ups in the early morning hours in association with the strongest LLJ. DFW could be under the gun again tomorrow and Friday....
I'd take a tornado any day before a bow pushing 90 mph straight winds. That's gonna be devastating if over a decent sized area.
Insured losses from tornadoes are actually pretty low when compared to everything else. Hail is by far and away the leader. I'm not sure if high wind or f...
TWC just said low-lying winds are getting faster... which may actually help spur some tornado development
The low level jet increases at night as the Western Plains/Front Range cools. In this case, it is also being aided by the deepening low pressure lifting NE through Kansas. This...
Pretty hairy here for about 10 minutes. I think the straight line winds were at least 50-60 mph. Bunch of yahoos parked their cars under the hotel canopy and part of it blew off. Lots of lightning, power flashes.....hotel where I am has power but the city around us is mostly dark now. ...
Eh, everything is getting in a line. No outbreak today.
Everything was expected to eventually line out but I don't think anyone expected it to happen so quickly. The biggest shocker, to me, is the lack of massive hail reports. The storms stayed so messy and clustered that no monste...

The cells with the best environment are out ahead of the main line/cluster but still west of I35. They appear to still be elevated but probably pose a bigger risk as they move NE. ...

re: Severe weather outbreak Central and Southern Plains States - DFW, OKC, Wichita - rds dc
The tornado threat appears to be diminishing as things are beginning to grow upscale, unless something can fire out in the warm sector ahead of the main line. There could still be spin ups within the line but it looks like things should start transitioning to a high wind threat. This has underperfor...

re: Severe weather outbreak Central and Southern Plains States - DFW, OKC, Wichita - rds dc
If you overlaid radar to that image it is very cool. The storms in Kansas go from the triple point down the outflow boundary. They are well south of the warm front but are increasing in coverage. They have a broad warm sector to work in but might be too crowded at this point to take advantage of it....

re: Severe weather outbreak Central and Southern Plains States - DFW, OKC, Wichita - rds dc
A few areas look to have a higher tornado risk this afternoon based on the mesoscale evolution this morning. Up in Kansas, who cares about Kansas, there is an outflow boundary that is separate from the warm front. Central Oklahoma storms may have left some boundaries around that could increase l...
