re: Cantaloupe...(better cold or room temperature?) - bdevill
I like it fresh sliced at room temp but if it's not all eaten in one sitting, it has to be refrigerated. Cold cantaloupe out of the fridge is great on a hot summer day. It's very hydrating for the body....

re: Let's talk roasted asparagus - bdevill
While we're talking asparagus, I'll share this recipe from the Silver Spoon's "Pasta" Cookbook. It's basically a layered macaroni and cheese with asparagus dish. Great with steaks, chicken or seafood. The method for cooking the asparagus is also pretty good. Pasta al Forno con Asparagi Bak...
Is the red gravy at Red Gravy sweet or savory?
In between. Not a fan of the sickeningly sweet red sauce but I like the taste of a sauce that's been cooking all day and this is how Red Gravy's tastes. And someone asked about "red gravy" and "red sauce".. I've always understood...
I've been to Red Gravy twice and that place has been awesome both times.
Was there last weekend and had the meatballs and the fried eggplant. Both were delicious but I think I give a slight edge to the eggplant. Her red gravy is really delicious. If you like a good red sauce, ...
Can I get a description or visual aid
I think Al Copeland said it best during his feud with Ann Rice over the appearance of his Straya restaurant on St. Charles when he said, "I realize it (Straya) doesn't make a suitable backdrop for one of your vampire novels, Ann." Some extr...

I had the same, smoked duck gumbo from Creole King. It was very good. A lot like a Lafayette gumbo. Also had a bread pudding and vanilla ice cream from the dessert vendor in the front of the store (can't remember the name). Delicious. I hear some complain that the space isn't what it was when th...

re: Favorite salmon filet recipes? - bdevill
I usually stick to pan searing, but I'm interested in baking at 250 like Gris Gris describes. If I want a topping, I'll put a little tzatziki on the side, or pesto. You can also glaze with honey and hoisin sauce, which is pretty good if you broil the fish. Use 1 tablespoon orange juice, 2 ta...
