| Political Talk|| re: Bill Cassidy, RINO running for senate, says this about conservatives - N.O. via West-Cal on 10/16/14 at 2:05 pm|
"Republican, Is Not Mary"
I have nowhere near the antipathy toward Mary that so many on this board have and I am an enthusiastic +1 on this. With control of the Senate up for grabs, anyone who is concerned about government overreach in the last 2 years of the Obama administration should vote for...
| Political Talk|| re: Why the trend of single women? - N.O. via West-Cal on 10/16/14 at 1:55 pm|
"education and careers."
I agree this plays some part, but I suspect it's relatively small. Women lower on the socioeconomic scale - and there are plenty of them - aren't being Murphy Brown (a laughably dated reference, I admit). Instead, I fear that there just isn't much desire to be married o...

I will never hear that song the same way again.

I filled up Friday for 2.76 at a Costco, so why not?

"I was hoping Rand Paul would be different."
Different from whom? What other GOP presidential aspirants have visited Ferguson?...
| O-T Lounge|| re: If all the Native Americans had united, could they have stopped the White Man? - N.O. via West-Cal on 10/10/14 at 10:54 am|
"Industrial Revolution never reached the Native Americans."
this doesn't make any sense. The Idustrial Revolution did not hit Europe for hudreds of years, either....

"won't say "never", but it probably would have been a generation or 2 later from where we did colonize the new world"
this is basically where I come down. Eventually, European advantages and plague would have carried the day, but what I think is instructive is how critical Indians were in the fig...
| Political Talk|| re: What is the strategy behind beheadings? - N.O. via West-Cal on 10/9/14 at 11:23 pm|
Great post/question. My guess is that, as often is the case, we are projecting our values and paradigms onto people with whom we have little in common.
I strongly suspect that the beheadings are an exercise in living the Word. They are killing in the manner they believe the Proohet prescribed. I...
| Tiger Rant|| re: For those curious-- this is how we finish the 2014 football season - N.O. via West-Cal on 10/8/14 at 8:28 am|
"Our scheme on offense must change. Talented last year and still lost three. Could've easily been 4."
I'm not taking a position on the scheme, but last year easily could have been one loss, as well. We lost to a Bama team that was just better, and could have and arguably should have won the othe...
| Tiger Rant|| re: A pass for this season, but........ - N.O. via West-Cal on 10/7/14 at 2:50 pm|
"A pass for this season"
This is where I come down, for many of the reasons noted in the OP. Now, I reserve the right to grumble if we don't seen signs of rebuilding NOW so the we can reload after only a one-year hiatus. ...

"What's different this time that will prevent Les from reloading and building us into a national contender again?"
Nothing. I expect this team to contend as soon as next year and certainly in 2016.

"Its already been pointed out to you that Ego had been here 4 years, so actually only one player on defense 'left early'"
Agreed and I edited the post, although Ego did have another year of eligibilty. However, for him, his draft prospects were such that his decision to leave made sense. Ego's ...

"Two players dont make that big of a difference."
Two players in the dead center of a defense that has so-so LB's and so-so DE's is HUGE. We play the run better, and get way more pass rush without blitzing if those two guys come back. The defense is nowhere near the liability it is today and is...
| Tiger Rant|| re: Is leaving early just an urban myth to explain our weaknesses? - N.O. via West-Cal on 10/6/14 at 10:32 am|
Ego Ferguson - left after RS JR season
Anthony Johnson - left after JR season to become an UNDRAFTED free agent.
This is a completely different defense with these 2 guys at DT and LaCouture as the #3.
Edited to reflect that Ferguson was a RS JR as another poster pointed out. ...

"The last 2 seasons hurt more than R Perriloux and Z Lee."
I agree with that, but I will add that the slew of early departures has hurt about the same as losing Perrilloux AND having to play 2008 with the Mallveto defense. Teh 2008 team had a lot of talent and a reasonable amount experience but ...
