"But dont forget Mauck was pretty effective as a sophmore."
He was effective but we did not lean heavily on him as we relied very heavily on the running game after that. It really was too bad that he went down near the end of the beatdown in Gainesville as the team really struggled after that, a...

"I guess its close, but i'd take Mauck if i could choose either one."
Reasonable minds can differ.
Also, regarding Mauck being a junior and Flynn a senior, I just happen to think Mauck's significant edge in playing time as a sophormore was of more value than Flynn's just hanging around anoth...

"Mauck is better then Flynn period."
I disagree. Perhaps comparable QB's but Mauck played with a much better defense and didn't really produce much in the biggest games (Ole Miss win, NCG win). Both had excellent running games but Flynn and the offense rolled up big points in wins over higher en...
| Political Talk|| re: How will Rand Paul defend his statements about the Civil Rights Act? - N.O. via West-Cal on 7/14/14 at 10:34 am|
My guess is that Paul will continue to clarify his statements in the manner he already has. It will not be the time to appease libertarian purists but rather to emphasize that "libertarian conservatism" as he calls is consistent with civil rights and can work quite well thank you alongside the 50 ye...

"Just can't compare Jones to Russell or Mett. Very difficult."
true, it's hard, but one thing that would be interesting is to read how NFL scouts evaluated them in their respective eras and then to ask who would have been picked first if they had come out in the same years. Due to size differenc...
| Tiger Rant|| re: Sammy Martin - 1980s - N.O. via West-Cal on 7/10/14 at 3:18 pm|
Aside from being white, he had very little in common with Hester. As a runner, he was used much more like Holiday - a speed back with little power. He was also outstanding out of the backfield or even lining up as a receiver. In the pros, he was a KR and backup WR. He could fly. Not fast for a w...

"Do you think Mexico shouldn't get to make and enforce its own laws?"
Of course, I do. But as I understand the facts of this case, the Marine made a wrong turn, was unable to turn around and then declared to the border agents that he had the guns. If am wrong about the facts, I am sure I will b...
| Political Talk|| re: False Balance = stifling of debate - N.O. via West-Cal on 7/9/14 at 4:07 pm|
The general notion that equal time is not always appropriate has been out there for a long time, and we probably all agree with that point of view when you get to the extremes. For example, do any of us really believe that holocaust deniers should be given equal time when discussing that tragic pie...

Nagin got a good draw with the sentencing judge. Berrigan is smart and I have never heard a word, even of pure gossip, that she is corrupt. But it's pretty well known that she is quite liberal when compared to other judges in the Eastern District.
I look forward to reading a little more about w...

| Political Talk|| re: What could Rand accomplish as President with an R controlled Congress? - N.O. via West-Cal on 7/3/14 at 9:29 am|
One ENORMOUS thing he could do regardless of the composition of Congress is repeal Obama's executive orders and directives to federal agencies. This alone could do wonders. Energy, trade, and even much of the ACA are within the president's SOLO powers. Whatever Obama did with his "phone and pen" c...

Thanks for the kind words, badlands. And for what it's worth, I want to emphasize that I truly believe what I wrote.
