Diamond is a great food. No fillers or soy. My female wasn't on it for 1 month and her coat looks like crap. With it her coat is shinny and healthy looking. Plus, the pellets are small which they love. Try going with a smaller pellet might be hard to chew at 4 months. Or just put a little warm water...

IMO parents that are proven is a great start. Ie proven hunters and have titles. It will never be a science to it, like said before. 25% breed 75% training. Start early with lots of obedience training and fun retrieves with pigeons. Pigeons help develop their prey drive. ...

You are right about the forced fetched part, I should have structured my statement to say Force training, not FF. The difference is forced fetch is exactly as it implies, but force training does all force phases. ie sitting, healing, force to pile, etc. I say force fetch bc most people call it that....

First 6-8 months you need to give the dog obedience training and fun retrieves.
One of the top training tips I like is to have your dog wait before you command it to do anything. Ie wait to eat, wait to enter inside or outside. It's crucial for the blind, bc a dog that goes before it's told won'...

Do yourself a favor and send him/her off to get force fetched. Usually only 1-2 months at $400, but will be a lot easier to train. Just my opinion. Also, there is nothing better for your dog than good obedience training. ...

Might sound weird but act like you're biting the end of the call. Don't actually bite it but right behind it. Do it while biting your wind off. That's how I do a squeal, like when a duck has a full throat of rice or food. Hope that helps
| Outdoor Board|| re: Tips to get your young retriever settled down - BoogerEater on 11/25/13 at 3:31 pm|
Use a tie down and throw a dummy out a few times to wear it out a little. Also, hit with e-collar on low with a sit command.
Forgot to add if it's a heal left side only then that will mess with them. If it is make sure you hunt them from whatever side...

In my opinion send your dog to get force fetched, which is normally only a couple months, then train him yourself. Mike Lardy's is what I've been training with. Don't go buy all kinds of training stuff if you don't know how to train.
Best thing you can do for training a dog is obedience. If he/s...
