re: Were Mike Anderson, Bevan, Grezaffi, & Davis really that talented? - chatuey
What about the defensive ends? Mike Robichaux and John Garlington were both very disruptive. I am pretty sure that Robichaux came to the football team as a walkon and was a lot of fun to watch chasing the QB's......

re: Were Mike Anderson, Bevan, Grezaffi, & Davis really that talented? - chatuey
Well, that game you mentioned still makes me sick because, in my opinion, the coaching staff blew that one by playing 3 QB's in that game and assuming that the 23-12 lead in the 4th quarter was safe. LSU had the ball near Ole Miss' 20 yard line with the 23-12 lead, and instead of inserting in the...

Thanks for reminding us of T Casanova's 2 punt returns in that same game. Wasn't it 61-17? and Archie Manning played most of the game wearing a cast in his left broken arm!...

George Bevan was very similar to the Honey Badger in size and in that he made a lot of big plays. He was a tackling machine. Mike Anderson was a close second in my opinion. Grezaffi was a great DB and punt returner. I am pretty sure all 3 were named All Americans at some point. LSU had anot...

Bert Jones is my choice too. He was awesome for the Colts for many years. His talent was mostly wasted while at LSU...sharing the load with much lesser talented QB's....

re: Did Pete Maravich cause a lot of turnovers? - chatuey
When he was a freshman, the freshman team would play to a packed barn, and when the game was over and the varsity team came to play for the game that counted, 60 to 70% of the fans had already gone home. The freshman team put up quite a show. They went undefeated at 17-0 until they lost the very l...
AND, he set up another in the SEC Cg with that awesome return that did not score.
It was even more impressive. He was involved in the first 21 points for LSU.
From '69 through '73, Mac had a much better conference record than Saban did - I'm having trouble seeing your point.
Instead of looking at the wins, take a look at the losses. I would like to try HB7 in the backfield for 2 or 3 plays and pitch to him (ala Ford) to see what happens. Ford is good too, I have no problem with him, just think he could break one! Why is it that LSU OL plays pretty much the same guys all game long and they don't wear out?? Every time I look, which is very often, I see from left to right #76, #60, #64, #74 and #72, and the only other number you can see playing often is #53 (I know their names!). But the defense plays a w...
