re: CFB coaches poll released - Buckeye Fan 19
Having polls before the 2nd or 3rd week of the season is moronic. These preseason polls absolutely affect the outcome of the standings come season's end.
Moving it to the second or third (or fourth) week really won't make much difference. Really, it's going to have to be at least...

My favorite part about these preseason poll threads (no matter if it's AP/Coaches or football/basketball) is people post teams who they think are overrated but rarely post/can't think of any teams who are underrated. You can't have an unequal amount of teams overrated as underrated. Doesn't work tha...

I took a little bit of a liberty with Ty Cobb since I believe he mostly played centerfielder (but I wanted a really good leadoff hitter) and a complete homer pick as a Mets fan with Piazza at catcher (it's realistic, but I wouldn't call him the best). 1. Ty Cobb - RF 2. Honus Wagner - SS 3. Wil...

Something about your criteria seems off. Just an example (which I and many other posters on here might find interesting, since it involves our two teams). Both Notre Dame and ULL finished 9-4 last year. ND's schedule was miles tougher. Yet ULL is ranked 40th and ND is 41st. Really don't know how tha...

I'm not saying AD will get it or not. I hope he does, but I don't know. Anyway, the point I was making was that it need not be some crazy feat for him to get it. As I said, even if he plays seven more seasons and retires at 35 just like Emmitt did, he doesn't even need to average 1,200 yards per sea...

Anyway, my answer is Gretzky's 215 points in a season. Goalies are so much bigger and more athletic now than in his heyday, and same with defensemen. Just to give you an idea, Crosby led the league in points last year. That number? 104, less than HALF of Gretzky's record. The second-place points...

I can see Smith's being broken. Peterson's already at over 10,000 and he's not even 30 yet. And I know about an RB's shelflife, but still, I don't think it's that untouchable. If AD plays for eight more seasons, he'd only have to average 1,050 yards per season to get there (and you'd certainly think...

I just don't understand why it has to be the Spurs. You could sell Heat at Cavs (obvious reasons), Thunder at Cavs (KD vs. LeBron), Knicks at Cavs (Melo & big market), Bulls at Cavs (Rose's first game back & big market)... Is it a huge deal the Spurs won't open at home? No. But like someone said,...

I'm never a fan of a champion opening on the road in any sport. They should play their first game at home. Ideally, it'd also be the first game of the season for the entire league, but if not, that's cool. But they should get to open their season with a ring ceremony/banner raising. Just my opinion....

I would have to have all three of Marquette, Nova and St. John's in there. Well, I wasn't referring to Crosby/Malkin as the best all time, just currently. But based on the OP's stance, I think Crosby and Malkin fit the criteria much better than Jagr and Lemieux, as the OP seems to be asking more about teammates that played all/nearly all of their NHL careers together. Lemi...

Crosby and Malkin. Already won a Cup and possibly the top two centers in the world. Good chance both are Penguins for life (I could see Malkin playing the last few years of his career with another team but not until his mid-late 30s. I think it's more likely Crosby never leaves but you never know)....
opinions can be foolish
That depends on what's being asked.
