in Cajun country, it means a thin, soupy, oily chicken or duck base
You need to find better places to eat in Cajun country because if the gumbo you ate was thin, soupy, & oily; you got screwed out of tasting what REAL Cajun country gumbo is all about. Thin, soupy, & oily is NOT the n...

Philly is pretty much the history & cheesesteak city. Try the City Tavern, supposedly an old tavern where Ben, George, Tommy & the boys would hang out & discuss freedom over a mug of brew. Other than that, the Rodin museum & a scary subway ride to South Philly-make sure you know what stop to get off...

Very interesting hungryone, I've never heard of "bouillie" in terms of the e way you speak of it being prepared. Bouie (boo-ye) has always been a meat (innards) gravy served over rice where I'm from. I've also heard people call it debris. Evangeline parish is pretty much the heart of the Cajun Fre...
Bouillie just means "boiled"....it's custard...or a "liver and lights" stew, or the headcheese mixture before it gels.
This is a good example of what I meant by this post. Where I'm from, bouie is basically the innards that are browned & eaten as rice & gravy. I've never heard of b...

Food items called different things in different areas of the state - TIGERFANZZ
I find it interesting that people from "neighboring" areas have different names for different food items, even though they are basically the same item. So I thought it would be interesting to list a few of the common items that have different names in different areas. I'm from Evangeline parish for ...
