re: adding on vs. buying a new house - Tiger Attorney
My home hasn't been appraised in 2.5 years so it could be more. Like I said we have the perfect plot of land just need more space. Adding on a second story does sound cheaper but we would have to find a way to raise our 1950 style low ceiling downstairs. I figured an architect should be my ne...

re: adding on vs. buying a new house - Tiger Attorney
House would sell for 250000 but I am a couple years in on a 20 year loan and still owe around 185000...should have included this. My concern with building is that the 185 plus construction costs would really add up....

adding on vs. buying a new house - Tiger Attorney
We spotted a house for $500,000 that we like, but we really love the exact spot where we are now, but 1200 square feet is getting small. We have considered things like raising what we have and building a story underneath it or bulldozing and building on this lot. We are surrounded by 500-1 million...

Our trip to Piedmont in December has me addicted to Langhe Nebbiolo...such great values for around 20 bucks. Elegant like a Pinot, but terroir-driven with a firmer body than you expect. This was bought at Brady's for around 20 and paired with grille...

2012 Balius from St. Helena region...it was $30 from Martin's and was highly recommended by Cedric. We laid it down for 6 months per his advice. It is likely a floor cab since there weren't that many tannins...though the bottle could have been laid down...

re: Cooking scallops. UPDATED with pics. - Tiger Attorney
At least one side has to stay on long enough to sear/crisp...the contrast is what makes a scallop great. I would do one first to get the right timing then do the rest. Lemon buerre blanc is a great sauce for them...

I have a love/hate with Barbera...whenever one bottle hits home the next is a total miss. I find myself really loving Langhe nebbiollo a lot more. We did hot the Spanish wine tasting at Windsor court...the somm is very nice and knowledgable. He has a way of expressing his opinions and inviting ...
