| Money Talk|| re: How much of an emergency fund do I really need? - jacquespene8 on 3/4/15 at 5:24 pm|
An emergency fund has multiple benefits. Its a good cushion, but it also gives you the opportunity to get higher deductible insurance plans in medical, vehicle, homeowners, etc. You can basically be self insured to an extent. So you can pay lower premiums and invest the difference and so on. Put...
| Tiger Rant|| re: This team is peaking at the right time. - jacquespene8 on 3/1/15 at 12:55 pm|
We're playing good right now, but I'm still seeing the turnovers too frequently, which leads to big runs by the other team. If we wanna go deep in the tourney, we can't just hand the ball to the other team so much....

People who can't sit still.
Can we please just chill the hell out and make it through a movie without you doing something else?!...
| Money Talk|| re: Refinacing student loan and extending term - jacquespene8 on 2/26/15 at 10:41 pm|
I agree with hungryone. If you really need extra cash each month, then do it by increasing your income, not by extending a loan. You're halfway there.
Forgive me for being ignorant, cause I never took a student loan, but if student loans are amortized then you've already paid a majority of your i...
| Money Talk|| re: Getting paid unused vacation time after leaving a company: law or courtesy? - jacquespene8 on 2/25/15 at 8:45 pm|
One might also benefit from checking out the company's policy on resignations. Does the company request written resignation a certain period in advance of your last day? This might be a reason for them to withhold vacation. Just don't bust up in the joint throwin the bird around and say it's your la...

When I first moved to Nashville after college, I had no job lined up. I just basically threw a dart at a map and said I wanted to live here. Had barely any idea what kind of job I wanted and had no leads on them.
Looking back, that was dumb, but it all worked out...

| Money Talk|| re: After marriage joint account or keep separate accounts? - jacquespene8 on 2/11/15 at 7:31 am|
Joint accounts because you aren't going to be roomies, you're gonna be married.
The little bit of money alloted to your self each month for splurge isn't a terrible idea, but why does that have to be separate account? Again, you're married. There should be nothing but openness....

We got a bunch of freaky talented guys who can do some awesome stuff. Problem is that they can't make jump shots or free throws.
If we miss em and they make em, we lose every time...

I have to believe that harris or Jennings will be better next year. I want to believe that whoever starts is the best qb. Whoever it is, I want LSU to win ballgames BECAUSE of him, not in spite of him. Here's to next year!...

| Money Talk|| re: Buy stocks or pay off student loans & car? - jacquespene8 on 1/19/15 at 1:54 pm|
I get what's being said. The value of each installment becomes less over time, to the lender and to you. You take less of a hit in value each time you make a payment. But a zero percent loan has shorter terms to lessen this impact on the lender. Unless you could defer the entire payment to three yea...

so a person is more responsible if they borrow money to buy something they can't afford? it sounds undisciplined to me.
I'm sorry to offend you by "ruining threads." The OP asked for opinions and I certainly didn't want to hold mine back when all he was getting the "stay in debt" responses. OP c...

There sure is someone not using a brain here.
If OP gives the loan holder $13k to remove the debt this instant, what does OP have? No dollars and no debt.
If OP pays the 0% interest car loan off monthly on time over the course of the next three years (just an assumption here) and ...

I misread original post. On second look I saw that SL is 5800, not 58000. In that case, yes pay off SL first then concentrate on car.
My point is that his emergency fund is less than his outstanding debt. And choosing to stay in debt, no matter the interest, so that you can put your BORROWED mone...
