re: Just finished season two of Bates Motel - Fenwick86
I just finished season two as well. I've put off watching it probably because I thought it would be widely disappointing...I was wrong. Nothing is or will ever be Hitchcock, but Bates Motel is one hell of an effort. It does Psycho justice, which is to say it does the greatest horror film ever mad...

re: Whiskey/Bourbon/Scotch appreciation thread - Fenwick86
I had Laphroaig 10 on the rocks about a year ago, I don't remember it enough to compare it to the Cairdeas. Cairdeas is though like other Laphroaigs, peat smoke and sea salty. This one has some kind of nutty flavor, citrusy too. I'm having a tough time deciding which I like more between the Quart...

I'm not a big fan of drinking whiskey out of brandy snifter. I've even been moving away from my glencairns. It just opens up and becomes more accessible to me out of a rocks/old fashioned glass. Just my preference at this point. FPD: Rye ...

re: Whiplash is a better movie than Birdman - Fenwick86
I'm not really qualified to say since I've only seen these two from the nominees but Whiplash is one of those rare movies that I wanted to watch again right after it was done
I only felt this way about two movies all year: Whiplash and even more so The Dance of Reality. Though I t...

re: Sideways is a fantastic film - Fenwick86
Very funny. And also poignant
Alexander Payne is great at making movies like this. His movies (like SW, About Schmidt, Nebraska) seem to be more human and thoughtful than others. I don't find his movies to be boring at all....

re: Lilyhammer Season 4 Not Looking to Good - Fenwick86
It's more funny than it is convincing to me. Steven Van Zandt is a fan favorite from The Sopranos. It also offers you a ganster movie/series fix...a Norwegian one. Not something you see everyday. So I think that is why some people like the show. Like I said, it works much better as a comedy tha...

re: Lilyhammer Season 4 Not Looking to Good - Fenwick86
the station that co-created the show and broadcasts it on terrestrial television in Norway - upset Netflix when it made every single episode of the show’s third season available online, all at once, before the season had finished airing on TV, and, crucially, before Netflix
Wow, ...
No, shucks fricking sucks.
I used to think this but last time I was in (Christmas time) I felt they stepped their game up. Seems like David is doing good things there finally. Dupuys would be my top choice. Last time I was home (Abbeville) I went to Shucks and was impressed, they stepped their game up. Richards is a good choice as well. Haven't been to the new Blacks, I'll definitely check it out next time I'm in. ...
