Just made it to gold - whew!! Was a crazy promo series but made the leap from silver to gold. Realistically my chances of going platinum are pretty slim, so if anyone wants to duo ranked hit me up - Name: Meazy. I may be able to help you make a move or two up in bronze. I normally jungle or ADC b...

As I said, the larger companies for HIRE ONS are now requiring hair tests, but it seems to vary for the randoms which is possibly why you haven't had one. For instance, a guy I work with says Weatherford will both random hair or urine and he nevers knows which until he shows up, but all new-hires ar...

Depends on the size of the company you are working for. The majority of larger companies (operators and service companies, not sure about drilling contractors) now are going to hair testing for the initial hire on, and subsequent random testing may be urine or hair from what I've heard....

Nice set of cutlery for Xmas present - HoustonsTiger
Hey all - My Dad is looking for a nice set of knives / cutlery for his kitchen. I have no idea what a nice set is. One recommendation I heard was "Cutco". Does anyone else have any ideas for a nice set? Looking to spend < $300 but can go up to ~500. I don't believe he needs the steak knives, just a ...

re: Which of the classes in the PETE curriculum are most physics based? - HoustonsTiger
I know when I was there statics was the first weed out course, but thermo (ME) was the monster. Probably 20% of my class took their thermo at Southern. I always found the PETE based courses the easiest. After being out of school since 2005, I haven't really used any of the non-PETE courses. If I ...

If you could get on somewhere as a directional driller that would be a great start. You will pick up alot of valuable knowledge on how to drill a well. Just pay attention to all the other stuff outside of your immediate work scope when you have the time, running casing, cementing, etc. The moer you ...

Yeah I understand if you can't switch - it's a tough thing to do for a wide range of reasons. All you really need is a foot in the door, and once you get that you'll be set. In my opinion with already having offshore experience I would try and target the majors, ie Exxon, Chevron, etc. Be sure to te...

I am a petroleum grad - Jan 06. You can definitely be a drilling engineer without being a PETE - granted that is probably the "best" degree to have if you want to be a drilling / completions engineer. That said, the majors higher all different engineering disciplines to fill them out. Mechanical,...
