I don't think it is needed. I believe the foundation is well packed. However, If it ends up cheaper due to less concrete and steel, why not do it? Unless people are having foundation issues? I have enough saved up to pay my vacant property note. Interest rate is 6% and I owe about $50k. I have been saving up to build a house but I guess I could always borrow against the land right? I should still have almost $30k left over but always heard you should have 20%....
