I'm sure BPS and Cabelas have it but it is hard to find. Look in the fly tying section. Academy has a very limited selection-only a few colors. You need nylon guide wrapping thread, not waxed. Waxed is used for tying flies. You'll also need some flex-coat epoxy, an electric rod turner and a hair dry...

In Japan, there are a lot of rocky mountains where trees are naturally dwarfed due to lack of nutrients and unfavorable growing conditions. People dig them out and put them in pots....

Azaleas make terrific bonsai and you can easily find an old one growing in someones yard. I'd hack it down to size at least a year prior to digging to ensure it will live. Then gradually, over the course of several years, remove the rootball until it fits in the pot you want....

You can do that. I'd wire the trunk in an "S" shape.

A deciduous tree might come back if topped. An evergreen won't. If you want a bonsai, your best bet is nursery stock or an old hedge row (with permission of course). You need to learn pruning and wiring techniques. Keep it in a large pot so you don't have to water it so often.

wick, those trees are at least 50 years old and cannot go more than 2 days without water in the summer before they die. They need full sun. It would be a miracle to find one naturally dwarfed in the woods, especially in our muddy soil....
