re: Advice needed! Opening a 529 plan - studentsect
The 14% is income based and goes down depending on your gross income (14% only applies if you gross under $30,000), so your actual match will probably be smaller. The START Plan is still a great option...I did a decent amount of research into this and START seemed to be the best deal available......
I thought it sounded weird. He made it sound like because my checks are bigger, since it's just one, that they'll take more.
You certainly aren't going to be in a higher tax bracket. The only thing that makes any sense is that someone your co-worker knows had an issue where the ...

re: CHART: Schools with the best 2016 recruiting classes - studentsect
i'm still trying to figure out how we finished 3rd. not that it really matters. the difference between 1st and 5th is miniscule.
I assume the schools ahead of us had their players more concentrated towards the "1" end of the 1-100 and the "101" end of the 101-300. This would be an...

re: Something doesn't make sense. - studentsect
Per ESPN last week we were supposed to have the best recruiting class of all time by far. We only lost a couple of recruits yesterday but we gained a great one in Fulton. So how do we drop down to 3? I cannot stand the media and their BS. I still love our class and proud to be a Tiger, but ES...

re: Ben Miles is one of the best FBs in 2017. - studentsect
School employees kids don't automatically get free tuition?
I assume any type of benefit based on parental employment at the school would count as Institutional Aid to a recruited player, so under that scenario Ben would count against scholarship numbers if he played. I think it...

re: Can someone fill me in on what happened with Fowler? - studentsect
I still don't see a reason to bash on the kid as some have. I mean he is 18 and sure people have been in his ear up until today. So I am sure his mind has changed a lot over the last 24 hours
If I were tasked with inflicting as much damage as possible on LSU's 2016 recruiting cla...

re: Does Anyone Know Names of Walk-Ons? - studentsect
I like getting in-state walk-ons that had d1 offers. Wish that would happen more, but I'm sure there's a loophole where you can't use TOPS.
I've seen people say that TOPS counts as Institutional Aid, but I'm not sure that is correct. I think the bigger issue is that TOPS just does...

re: Amazon to open 300-400 brick and mortar bookstores - studentsect
I have no idea if this is in their plans, but it might make sense if they are going to treat the stores as warehouses to provide quicker and cheaper shipments for online purchases with the bonus of in-person sales. Maybe they just decided that the additional revenue from in-person sales will offse...

re: Layton garnett to lsu - studentsect
Is TOPS considered institutional financial aid?
Not sure. I've been working under the assumption that it was but now that I think about it I'm not sure. Since it is state-based it might not be. Edit: I looked into it and I think TOPS probably would not be considered instituti...

re: Layton garnett to lsu - studentsect
I'm not saying your wrong, but the two scenarios aren't even remotely similar. TOPS is an academic scholarship, if he plays football he will still be going to school. Giving someone a tennis scholarship that they will never use for that purpose is dishonest and shady.
[i]NCAA By...

re: Layton garnett to lsu - studentsect
He won't be able to use tops and play football
That isn't accurate. He can certainly use TOPS and play football. The issue with TOPS and playing football as a preferred walk-on has to do with how he counts against LSU's football scholarship numbers, not whether he can do it....
