Well then I won't patronize their restaurants anymore if they do that. I want to know that my burger was flipped by a real human being, and I want to give my order to a real person. How many of you enjoy automated phone calls? Sucks, huh?...

Nope, I just don't want to hear the smug bull shite anymore. Lardasses filling the pews every weekend and hearing the gospel (none of which sounds like "ECON 101") and then going about their way during the workday, driving by minions of destitute holding up signs, walking around the streets mumbling ...

(my robot just broke down) Also, dare I say, the comments in this thread reek of, um, real downhome Christian values. Business and Jesus don't mix ... OK, fine, I'll buy that. But then please don't go to church/mass/fellowship to feel good about yourself when you're plainly not following your a...

Robots, machines... OK. Link? If that was such a great business model, THEY WOULD ALREADY BE DOING IT! Are you seriously suggesting that the business owners are holding off on automation b/c out of the goodness of their hearts, they want to keep paying flesh and blood workers? "You know, boss...

Their marketable skill is flipping burgers. Apparently that's worth something to fastfood joints. Management knows that labor is a huge part of the equation. True, management vs. Joe Burger flipper individually, not much of a leverage battle. Management vs. burger flippers local no. 35, mmm, may...

Disagree. Collectively, the burger flippers ARE irreplaceable. Look, this thread has actually convinced me that a mandatory $15/hr min wage is not the way to go. It doesn't take into account a bunch of factors and is destined to create many undesirable unintended consequences. However, in a coll...

Collectively, their skills ARE irreplaceable. I think a nice compromise here would be to forego a mandatory $15/hr min wage, but beef up collective bargaining. Hammer it out at the negotiating table. The American Way. :usa:...

[quote]Letting the free market work, works best. No we don't want 13 year olds working in sweat shops, and we don't want people working for peanuts; but when you start telling people a 15 dollar minimum wage is good for society you need to understand how all of business works and not just look at Wa...

I know that they rely upon government assistance for their underpaid workers. I do know that. That's an unhealthy economic model, in my humble opinion. Care to comment? Walmarts have even put out boxes in their stores with signs asking for donations for their workers. Lovely folks....

You didn't answer the question. That's fine. The question: why won't Sam Walton, and Ray Kroc accept less profit, or stated alternatively, why do they insist on maximizing profits? Answer: because they can! Yet, you object to the workers trying to maximize THEIR earnings. The workers ar...
