The contractor is responsible for their work for a period of time. I suspect they may have done something wrong allowing the soils to settle. Maybe it wasn't compacted properly. Maybe there was a leak in the sewer thus allowing soil to wash down the sewer line? It will be investigated thoroughly now...

Sure its true, we support CATS by paying fares, and through our hotel taxes, and that wouldn't change if SG becomes a city.

There is a downtown development district which was formed. They elected to levy a tax on their district, and they are funded via that property tax.
I don't know if they have another source of revenue(s)....

CHS is in an old, mixed race area. It certainly isn't in an affluent area. In fact it never was.
There are nicer older subdivisions off Claycut across Acadian and then there's the Garden District not too far away, but most of the homes around CHS are modest wood homes, and then there's old commer...
