re: Greatest NBA performance you witnessed live - pmacneworleans
Twice, both featuring Pete Maravich when he was with the NO Jazz. Once against the Knicks, he put up 67 against one hell of a defensive guard, Walt Frazier. Other time was on a Thanksgiving night against the Nuggets. He scored 7 in the last 90 secs to overcome a 6 point deficit, with the buzzer beat...

re: Jacques Imo's Recommendations - pmacneworleans
where else can you get venison, rabbit and deep fried poboys all on one menu? that's unique in and of itself. if you don't enjoy the food, that's one thing, but calling it not unique is disingenuous
Coop's, and on occasion, Elizabeth's. And, its a hell of a lot cheaper. ...

re: Every wonder how some restaurants stay in business. Maple cafe in West End... - pmacneworleans
The sonorous, bloated, voice of the rotund one (Tom Fitzmorris) claims its one of the best restaurants in the City. And, yes, they advertise on his shlock, I mean, show. ...

re: Gulf States settle with BP for $18.7 Billion, Louisiana to get $6.8 billion - pmacneworleans
Settlement is being paid out over 16+ years. Frankly, this is a great deal for BP. They had set up a reserve fund for more than this. For us in La., its not a great deal. State has a coastal restoration plan that will cost $50b to implement, and this deal gives us $5b over 16 years. There is no othe...

re: What kind of BBQ joint isn't open on a Saturday afternoon?! - pmacneworleans
A couple of years ago, there was a different pop-up operating out of Chickie Wah Wah - a sandwich place (forget the name). They were open for lunch during the week, but couldn't attract a crowd. I like Blue Oak, but also wish they could get their own location. ...

re: The Italian Barrel deserves a shoutout - pmacneworleans
Its a great, often overlooked, place. Just wish they would change out the garish, cartoon sign they have on the exterior. It doesn't reflect kindly upon the quality of the food they prepare. ...

re: Tom Fitzmorris rips Velvet Cactus - pmacneworleans
Why would anyone think your in for a culinary treat at Velvet Cactus? It is what it strives to be - mass produced, fatty, greasy Tex-Mex, with a huge helping of booze on the side. I'm not knocking it - but, when I've gone there, I sure the hell know what I'm getting myself into. Oh, and don't forg...

re: Arse's Fatty Rewind™ (Father's Day & fancy public bathroom discussion) - pmacneworleans
They keep claiming that fresh fish sales are coming, but nothing has happened yet. We'll see. From what I've been told, about half of the vendors are not doing well, and with summer slow downs now starting to hit, that may worsen things for them. Maybe that will lend itself to changes in the make-up...

re: Arse's Fatty Rewind™ (Father's Day & fancy public bathroom discussion) - pmacneworleans
The "hate" mainly stems from the fact that the city issued survey questionnaires throughout the St. Roch, Marigny and Bywater area, soliciting advice on what people wanted the Market to become. A source of fresh seafood/fruit/vegs/meat was the overwhelming choice, driven by the fact that we don't ha...

Entrees were in the $13-$24 range. As I posted earlier, I'd go again for lunch, especially for the view and ambience. But, in terms of food quality, there are better places within a 1/2 mile radius....

They were huge in N.O. during the mid 70s, and often played at The Warehouse. Back in the day, there was a contest on the local rock radio station, WRNO, to win free tickets to their show at The Warehouse. Had to submit a photo which best represented their then hit song, Hot 'N Nasty. WRNO received ...

Paladar 511 - new place in N.O. - pmacneworleans
Went there last night. Its in the Marigny, two blocks off the river. Beautiful build -out in a newly renovated bldg that is mostly an apt complex. Place is good, but its a Mariza's wanna be. Menu is mainly pizza, with a few other Italian inspired dishes (ravioli, fish dish, etc). Wine list is perfun...
