| Pelicans Talk|| How to maximize Vasquez’s trade value. - morsatun on 6/20/13 at 7:57 pm|
If the management team is leaning towards drafting Burke, and eventually trading Vasquez to maximize the return, when would be the best time to do it? I know my point is not going to be very popular among some fans, but here it is anyway.
If we are trying to get the best possible value for Vasque...
| Pelicans Talk|| If we pick Burke…? - morsatun on 6/17/13 at 6:50 pm|
It is starting to look like Burke is the pick. If that is the case, what would be the point guard situation next year? A few questions come to mind:
1 is Burke ready to start in the NBA straight away?
If the answer is yes, then do we keep Vasquez as backup or trade Vasquez and trust Robert...
| Pelicans Talk|| Can Vasquez improve enough? - morsatun on 5/26/13 at 7:32 pm|
In my last post there was a bit of a discussion on weather Vasquez has reach his ceiling or not. IMO he can improve in some aspects, and not in others.
If Vasquez was to be our starting PG next season and his numbers were to be:
15 PPG up from 13.9
9.5 APG up form 9.0
3 TOPG down from ...

Just read in the Venezuela news that Vasquez will have surgery in both ankles next Friday...
| Pelicans Talk|| Who is more serviceable for next year Lopez or Vasquez? - morsatun on 5/22/13 at 9:17 pm|
We all seem to agree, that both Lopez and Vasquez in their respective positions showed good progress, but also limitations. Although not ideal in most people minds, it is certainly a possibility that either one of them or both would be our starting players next season (note I am not saying that is i...
| Pelicans Talk|| We may be in trouble - morsatun on 5/21/13 at 11:18 pm|
I know a lot of people are excited about the next season, and expect the Pelicans to be competitive, (may be not play off favorites, but 8 spot candidates at least). Nevertheless, no matter how much I think about it, I can see us improving, but not that much. I will explain why:
There are 3 main ...
| Pelicans Talk|| How many shots will GV take today? - morsatun on 3/18/13 at 6:50 pm|
During the post-game talk yesterday Monty was asked if he was upset about GV taking 25 shots in the game, and he answered that if Gordon and Anderson are not scoring then GV has to take more shots. With Gordon out today, I wonder if GV will have green light, or will Monty keep him on a short leash?...
| Pelicans Talk|| Mistake in last game's official stats - morsatun on 3/15/13 at 12:43 am|
This is not particularly relevant, but I am surprised that it can happen and no one seams to notice for the official stats.
According to the NBA stats page in the last games Vasquez scored 15 points and 14 assists. If you checked the “play by play” record, when there where 1:56 minutes lefts it ...
| Pelicans Talk|| Point guarding the pelicans for the next two seasons - morsatun on 3/2/13 at 8:05 pm|
After more than 50 games of the season I am prepare to make a prediction about the Vasquez-New Orleans relationship. I am fairly confident that Vasquez will be the starting point guard next year and then he will be traded in the 2014 off season. Here are my reasons:
Next year he will cost the tea...
| Pelicans Talk|| The Gordon situation is killing us - morsatun on 2/27/13 at 11:04 am|
I really think that the biggest problem we have at the moment is call Erick Gordon. I am not saying he is a bad player, but between the fact that he cannot play in back to backs, and the lack of consistency he has shown, the team has not been able to develop clear and consistent game style.
| Pelicans Talk|| How much would Vasquez get in his next deal? - morsatun on 2/12/13 at 4:10 pm|
This thread is not intended to re-discuss whether Vasquez will be with us or should be our starter in the future. I just want to have an idea of how much you think he will get regardless of weather he is with us, or with someone else.
I am thinking about a 4 year deal, and I post 3 scenarios: A-...
| Pelicans Talk|| The hardest game of Vasquez career. - morsatun on 1/17/13 at 12:07 am|
When you think about it this game had all the ingredients to become the hardest game Vasquez had played yet.
-We were playing against a 6 wins in row Celtics
-He had to face Rondo and Bradley, and without Gordon they could both put pressure on him.
-He was not 100% physically (he had a cold...
| Pelicans Talk|| When sarcasm becomes reality (Vasquez with a shot for a doublé doublé average) - morsatun on 1/10/13 at 6:13 pm|
Last October, LSUIGARD13 posted a thread entitled: What player is most likely player to average a double-double for the season? In that thread I posted that the only player with a REMOTE chance of getting a double double was Vasquez (although I though it was very unlikely). These are the last 2 post...
| Pelicans Talk|| I don’t care about points or assists I care about TOs - morsatun on 1/7/13 at 4:58 pm|
Everyone is all excited about GVs points and assists lately, but it seems to me that the fact that for the first time in the whole year Vasquez has 3 consecutive games with less than 3 TOs (2, 2 and 1). This is really important if it becomes a trend, as according to Monty, the main thing he wanted V...
| Pelicans Talk|| Is Monty responsible for some of Vasquez’s TOs? - morsatun on 1/3/13 at 9:36 pm|
“[i]One thing I am certain of is that Williams' many different rotations are not making life easy on Greivis Vasquez. After Wednesday's action, the Hornets starting PG was tied for first plac...
| Pelicans Talk|| What does Vasquez have to do to maximise his productivity - morsatun on 11/15/12 at 6:33 pm|
Ok, it appears clear now that we are more than likely to be stuck with Vasquez as our starting PG for most of the season. That is just a reality whether we like it or not. We also know that there is no way he will become any faster or athletic. So what can Vasquez do to improve? And what can the tea...
| Pelicans Talk|| The big test - morsatun on 11/3/12 at 5:05 pm|
Vasquez and Aminu have had a fantastic first two games; they have helped each other stats amazingly. Nevertheless this is going to be the first test to see if this has been mare luck or if there is real substance.
Without Davis it is going to be a lot harder for Vasquez to get the number of assist...
| Pelicans Talk|| Give Greivis a break. - morsatun on 10/23/12 at 5:54 pm|
Last night was not the best night for the Hornets; we look like a team without a system. While watching the game I was following the comments in the game thread, and was a bit surprised about how harsh some of the comments where towards Vasquez. First of all let me clarify that I agree he didn’t pla...
| Pelicans Talk|| Vasquez or Rivers, River or Vasquez.... may be Roberts? - morsatun on 10/11/12 at 9:15 pm|
If Vasquez or Rivers start as PG on day 1 has been a long discussion over the break, so far after 3 games, Rivers has looked much better as SG but a long way from a starting PG position. Vasquez has looked very much like a back up PG. Roberts on the other hand has surprised with his offense, and in ...
| Pelicans Talk|| Hornets need to improve in… EVERYTHING - morsatun on 10/8/12 at 3:48 am|
I know yesterday's was the first game of the season and sloppy play was expected, but this is not the first preseason opener that I have seen in my life, and there was not that much to rescue from the way we played. I started the game being startled by how badly Vasquez was playing, to the point tha...
| Pelicans Talk|| First training camp for Vasquez - morsatun on 9/12/12 at 9:01 pm|
Even dough Greivis is in his third year in the NBA he has not had one training camp yet. In his rooie year he got injured and had to have an operation, so he actually missed training camp altogether. In his second year there was almost no training camp due to the players strike and he did not partic...
| Pelicans Talk|| How important is Vasquez to Gordon? - morsatun on 9/10/12 at 5:30 pm|
Even though Gordon and Vasquez are two of the few Hornets remaining form last year, they hardly had any time together in the court. Given the fact that I often hear people saying that Gordon will often bring the ball down himself, and that he will be creating his own opportunities, How much do you t...

What are the consequences for potential trades next year of starting Vasquez or ...

| Pelicans Talk|| Are the 2012 Hornets better than the 2011 hornets? - morsatun on 7/22/12 at 5:57 pm|
This is a very easy question considering that everyone was injured last year and therefore, if we stay healthy we will be much better this year. Nevertheless, let’s compare the teams in paper before the beginning of the seasons: I guess the question is injuries aside do we have a significantly bette...
| Pelicans Talk|| Poingurding the Hornets - morsatun on 7/14/12 at 6:15 pm|
I have heard a lot of comments on who will be the starter point guard for the Hornets next season, and in average it looks like most people think Vasquez will start for a while until rivers is ready and then Rivers will take over. As part of this opinion, it appears that most people think that Vasqu...
| Pelicans Talk|| Vasquez showed hiuge progress - morsatun on 7/7/12 at 12:38 am|
Vasquez had 24 points, 5 of 9 3s 7 assists and 3 TO in the last game Venezuela played in the OQ. He was very impressive as in a game like this I would have expected him to take many bad shots and torn the ball over regularly. He was actually having to move a lot to be able to get open 3s, and made a...
