| Political Talk|| Some Humor in the Consumer Confidence Number this Morning - RedStickBR on 11/26/13 at 9:23 am|
Oct. Consumer Confidence was 72.4. Economists polled were expecting an uptick to 72.9 in this morning's Nov. report. After all, we had a government shutdown in the prior month, how could consumers possibly not be a bit more optimistic now that the government is back up and running, right?
| Political Talk|| Why is it "extreme" when Republicans become more conservative ... - RedStickBR on 11/20/13 at 10:27 am|
... yet we don't hear a damn peep about the progressive takeover of the Democractic Party by the Howard Deans of the world that's all but come to exclude many of the Democrats' more moderate members?
Why is it bad when Republicans do it but just damn fine and dandy when Democrats do it? Why is it...

| Political Talk|| Landrieu, Manchin, Shaheen Ought to Just Call a Spade a Spade - RedStickBR on 11/15/13 at 6:52 am|
Any extension of the individual mandate and this thing's a duck on the water. And every Republican's going to be carrying a shotgun come November, 2014.
If the young and healthy don't sign up, ObamaCare will not work. Giving them a longer period of time to sign up ensures they won't sign up for a...
| Political Talk|| An Elegant Display of Comedy (re: Obamacare; Liberals, You Are Warned) - RedStickBR on 11/14/13 at 10:22 am|
The left probably won't like this article. But it's not meant to be taken entirely seriously, in my opinion.
If a leftist can come to that understanding, I think he/she will be able to squeeze out a laugh or two here.
People in the middle/on the right will likely enjoy it regardless.
| Money Talk|| Looks Like Gross Has Made His (Relatively) Near-Term Interest Rate Bets - RedStickBR on 11/14/13 at 7:16 am|
Following up from the Goldman commentary speculating an eventual Fed taper will be accompanied by maintenance of ZIRP, I found this interesting. Basically in-line with Benny's thoughts on the topic:
| Political Talk|| Good Critique of QE from Someone Formerly Charged with Carrying it Out - RedStickBR on 11/12/13 at 9:25 am|
The merits of QE can be debated. I'm not necessarily endorsing the views espoused here. Nor am I necessarily in disagreement with them. I just think it's an interesting read.
| Political Talk|| Krugman Touts Paper I've Mentioned Here a Few Times - RedStickBR on 11/12/13 at 9:17 am|
The paper details how long-term unemployment has caused sustaining negative impacts to our economy's productive capacity.
Krugman writes an article on the paper ...

| Political Talk|| Best quote I've seen yet on the scramble to fix ObamaCare.gov - RedStickBR on 11/12/13 at 7:48 am|
As was mentioned in the thread yesterday comparing ObamaCare to WW2, having more people is not necessarily better, particularly when it comes to things like writing code. So when the administration says things will be fixed now that they've hauled a bunch of people from Silicon Valley over to get to...

The list of people Obama's lie impacts continues to grow. First, the administration said 95% not impacted. Then, 80%. Now, even those with employer-provided plans will see their current plans change as a result of ObamaCare.

One catch: they cannot have a permanent slot on a mainstream televised news network.

| Political Talk|| Roger Altman Put It Best This Morning - RedStickBR on 10/17/13 at 10:44 am|
Regarding the whole shutdown issue, I believe Altman put it best this morning. This guy is a finance person, an investment banker, he has no natural tendency to be a liberal, yet he tends to espouse liberal views, so I love to hear someone with that unlikely background speak when they do.

| Political Talk|| Americans Love to Demonize Washington, But Let's Get Real ... - RedStickBR on 10/2/13 at 5:03 pm|
We love to moan and groan about how dysfunctional people in Washington are. We love to point fingers and distribute fault to others. But let's get real with ourselves for a second here.
