Heard about this a week ago. It was detected by sensors and estimated at over 60 million metric tons. It's been verified by flyovers and satellite images. It's larger than the 1958 slide in Glacier Bay which caused a 1,700 ft seiche wave.

Series of avalanches caused by rain and warmer weather put snow 100 ft deep on the road at Keystone Canyon. The ice dam also caused the river to become a lake. One unfortunate soul was caught inbetween two of the avalanches on the highway, but managed to get out.

Local middle schools teach hunting skills including gun safety, game handling and care, etc. The High Schools are offering an Outdoor Biology class which teaches survival, which includes time spent at the range.
I really wish more schools would do this and teach our kids...

Did this a few years ago and came out with a few ounces, but it was half what it is now. Spend a few hours a couple weekends ago and pulled a little color out of the creek with just a gold pan, and got $150 for it. Worth more, but the broker makes a bit on the transaction.
