| Political Talk|| What has obama done right? - thetempleowl on 6/29/14 at 10:12 am|
Kill Bin Laden? He actually made the go call on that. Outside of that, I am having a difficult time thinking of much.
Healthcare is a disaster.
Foreign policy is a disaster.
Cash for clunkers?
I'm really struggling to find a policy idea that his administration has advanced th...
| Political Talk|| Should health insurance pay for alternative medicine? - thetempleowl on 6/13/14 at 10:56 am|
Now before anyone says anything, first of all, understand that if you say yes, this will increase the cost of healthcare tremendously.
Perhaps I should say that this does increase the cost of healthcare for all.
Just an fyi, since Florida redid their statutes for accident coverage, do you re...
| Tech Board|| Most stable RAID - thetempleowl on 6/11/14 at 9:23 pm|
For large terabyte hard drives, raid five is not recommended.
This would be for an 8 drive 3tb per drive system.
So, we would be between RAID 1, 6, or 10.
RAID 1 would just be mirrored drives. You could combine these drives into one large drive with windows.
This would mean you lose...

| Political Talk|| Will there be another dark age? - thetempleowl on 5/3/14 at 10:20 am|
At the end of the bronze age, there was a major collapse of society. This has been blamed on a multitude of reasons, but humanity in general took at least a step back after making large strides forward.
At the end of the roman empire, again the world was plunged into a second dark age. I find...

| Political Talk|| Do you want to decrease your daughters chances of developing cervical cancer? - thetempleowl on 3/31/14 at 3:37 pm|
I think just about everyone can agree that this would be a good thing.
One can decrease a womans chances of developing a high risk lesion by 45% and all other types of lesions by about 35%. And it is easy.
Just vaccinate children against the hpv vaccine.
| Political Talk|| Carville leper colony - thetempleowl on 3/31/14 at 2:15 pm|
I have to tell you the idea of a leper colony in the us for what is still not a very well understood disease is fascinating. I understand it has pretty much closed down and is now used by the national guard with few if any people still on it.
The last thing I saw was a bbc article from 2010.

OK, posted this on the OT, but surprise, I didn't get any reasonable advice. I got a pics or it didn't happen, and am currently waiting for someone to suggest to piihb.

| O-T Lounge|| Branches of Cypress bent during ice storm. - thetempleowl on 3/9/14 at 2:04 pm|
The ice storm damaged many trees and broke many branches, but some young cypress trees survived fine.
Some of the branches are not following their typical growth pattern but remain bent out at about a 90 degree angle.
I guess I have to tie them up to get them growing back to normal. Do I ...

| Political Talk|| The costs of defending criminals (2 million in the Arias case alone to date) - thetempleowl on 1/28/14 at 10:40 am|
Well, the costs for defedning Jody Arias is out and thus far it has cost the tax payers of that county over 2 million dollars in attorney fees, witnesses, etc.
That seems pretty steep. Obviously indigent people should be allowed a defense, but a defense costing this much seems a bit much.

Calm down. This is not perhaps your typically thought discussion on the matter. I suppose that religion will have to get involved, but this is not meant to be a religious thread.
It is more about the legality of such a thing. Also, what happens if the believed to be demonically possessed per...

| Fantasy Sports Board|| brees or foles? - thetempleowl on 12/22/13 at 8:11 am|
This is for the championship. I obviously have been riding brees. I picked up foles early on for a bye week replacement and held on to him. Brees tore up Carolina at home. But he doesn't do as well on the road. Foles has a weakened Chicago defense.

I almost always live by a simple rule. You never sit your studs.
However, the question here is foles could certainly be considered a stud as well.
Then we have Brees against Carolina which has been tough the whole year or Foles against a somewhat weak lions defense.
I am torn here. I ...
