| New Orleans Saints Talk|| Meachem cut by Chargers - adono on 8/31/13 at 2:56 am|
Well, this won't help Saints receivers on the open market. Brees is the system and the WRs are just here for the ride.
Waived OT Max Starks, WR Robert Meachem, WR Luke Tasker, CB Cornelius Brown, CB Greg Gatson, CB William Middleton, S Sean Cattouse, LB Phillip Dillard, LB Jerrell H...
| New Orleans Saints Talk|| What we learned this Preseason. - adono on 8/30/13 at 7:18 am|
We learned that the Payton era of finding undrafted talent continues...especially at the RB position.
We learned that Brees is Brees and he'll have a full stable of horses to throw to. Toon, if he stays healthy, will allow SP to put 3 Bigs (Colston, Graham, and Toon) packages in when we need it. ...
| New Orleans Saints Talk|| What's up with all of these "remembering" threads? - adono on 4/29/13 at 3:40 pm|
Looking at the board today is like looking at the obituaries in the morning paper.
It's almost like folks don't have something to look forward to and only have their memories to cherish.
| New Orleans Saints Talk|| Same old crap! - adono on 4/25/13 at 9:01 pm|
These guys should trade the 1st round pick every god damn year!
What a joke....
| New Orleans Saints Talk|| If the Saints pick Mingo, it's a first. - adono on 4/24/13 at 9:06 pm|
The draft tomorrow marks the 46th NFL draft that the Saints have participated in and the team has never selected an LSU player in the 1st round.
Georgia, Ole Miss, Ohio State, Alabama, California, Texas, Colorado, Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and USC have had multiple players taken in the 1st b...
| New Orleans Saints Talk|| Why no news on the Chris Ivory trade to the Jets? - adono on 4/24/13 at 1:22 pm|
Looks like Loomis isn't folding his cards too quickly on the expected trade of Ivory to the Jets.
They offered a 5th and, obviously, that isn't good enough...right now.
The old "let's see what happens in the first few rounds" ploy may well move that 5th to a 4th (who knows?).
| New Orleans Saints Talk|| Most mocks now have Rams picking Austin @16. Should help trade back. - adono on 4/9/13 at 10:12 am|
It appears the Rams are putting out solid info that they're going after Austin with the 16th pick. That's good.
There are a number of teams sitting in the 20s that need a WR (the obvious suspects are the Vikings, Colts, and Texans)and you have to believe one of them will try to move 1 spot ahead ...
| Music Board|| I'd like to see folks posting new amazing talent they discover. - adono on 4/8/13 at 8:33 pm|
I've played music for a long time and learned firsthand it's a tough business...it never ceases to amaze me how much talent there is out there.
So, this is a good forum for people to post new talent that deserve recognition.
I came across a guy named Allen Stone. There's no doubt Mr. Stone is...
| New Orleans Saints Talk|| Getting the sinking feeling that we're missing the cycle. - adono on 3/19/13 at 1:32 pm|
I keep reading story after story on the dire cap situation the Saints are in and that it may get worse. No, in fact, it will get worse over the next 2 years. Graham and Jordan contract will be up and they'll both in the $6 to $8 mill range.
Read a John Clayton story last night and it focused on ...
| New Orleans Saints Talk|| Throw out some names of backup QB - adono on 3/16/13 at 2:44 pm|
I think it's a pretty safe bet to say the team will draft a QB somewhere in the draft. I wouldn't be surprise if they also bring in a vet QB to compete.
After looking at the ranked QBs in the draft, the guy that stuck out was Nathan Stanley out of Southeastern in Hammond:
"Nathan Stanley, QB, So...
| New Orleans Saints Talk|| No great surprise that we aren't active in FA. - adono on 3/14/13 at 10:40 am|
Bad news: Even the casual Saints fan knew we weren't going to be at the top of the class in chasing FAs. Hell, the only way we were going to be in the class at all was if the team cut Smith, Vilma and, maybe, Harper. That didn't happen and the savings from them taking pay cuts barely keeps us from d...
| New Orleans Saints Talk|| The bad news: same old crap on defense. The good news: no FA anxiety. - adono on 3/12/13 at 3:47 pm|
Well, look at this way: there's no real money to throw around on FAs; so, we don't have to see those "should we" headlines on this site anymore.
There's a silver lining in everything!...
| New Orleans Saints Talk|| Good news for those not wanting Smith & Vilma gone. Holder says they'll stay. - adono on 3/12/13 at 2:16 pm|
Just when there was no light to guide us through the haze of FA, which was made worse due to all the smoke and mirrors, Larry Holder (the gate keeper of all information held sacred by the FO) releases this pearl of wisdom:
"It's clear to me that the New Orleans Saints would like defensive end Wil...
| New Orleans Saints Talk|| Time to vote on what to do with the 3 Amigos (Vilma, Smith & Harper). - adono on 3/11/13 at 3:19 pm|
The FO, obviously, needs help in determining what to do with the "cap strappers". So, I thought we should take a vote in order to help them make the right decision (I believe Loomis is a frequent visitor on this site and many posters here seem to have close connections with him...at least you would ...
| New Orleans Saints Talk|| Thoughts on status of Smith, Vilma & Harper - adono on 3/10/13 at 11:48 am|
I'm going out on a limb and say we'll hear something by tomorrow!!!!!
In all seriousness, this is what I read into the situation: the guys are accepting pay cuts and they're working on the revised contracts. If they aren't, there's no brownie points for delaying the inevitable. From what I unders...
| New Orleans Saints Talk|| I'm guessing the hammer is coming down this week on Vilma and Smith. - adono on 3/4/13 at 10:37 am|
I have to believe the team will want to have a clear picture of where they are at prior to March 12th. That means we'll know if Vilma, Smith and maybe Harper are gone. Whatever money is freed up (either pay cuts or release) can be used to shore up some holes.
This may have an impact with what we...
| New Orleans Saints Talk|| Smith and Vilma. What do we do? - adono on 2/21/13 at 10:23 am|
I think it's getting close in time when the team is going to have to act on these 2. Blues has done a good job breaking down the cost to keep vs the cost to cut. I really don't see either one taking a voluntary pay cut; so, that narrows the options.
Trade: Don't think either has any trade value
| New Orleans Saints Talk|| Who are some guys that might jump into the top 14 picks who are not expected to? - adono on 2/18/13 at 3:23 pm|
I brought this up because ESPN radio this morning was on the topic of QBs rising and jumping into the top 12 because of the number of teams needing to make splash. Mentioned this draft could see the same type of movement we saw with the 2011 draft when Locker, Gabbert and Ponder were off the board i...
| New Orleans Saints Talk|| If the next D.C. comes from a team playing tonight, who is it? - adono on 2/3/13 at 9:08 am|
Some have speculated that the Saint's new D.C. may well be coaching in New Orleans tonight. I just looked at all of the defensive coaches for the Ravens and 49ers and really couldn't find a slam dunk on either staff.
Other than their present D.C.s (who I wouldn't think are willing to take a late...
| New Orleans Saints Talk|| Legit question: How will the Saints overcome cap problems? - adono on 2/1/13 at 9:35 am|
I'm asking this because it seems that we're going to have some cap problems for a number of years. Caught a program last night (don't know if it was a re-telecast) and former Executive VP for the New Orleans Saints Jim Miller was on it. The main topic was how do the Saints fix the defense when there...
| New Orleans Saints Talk|| The reasons why Saints 1st round picks haven't shined. - adono on 1/27/13 at 9:01 am|
The draft is a crap-shoot and the the higher the pick the brighter the light on any mistake. The Saints under the Payton regime have not picked a total bust (the jury is still out on M. Ingram) but they have not exactly hit home runs on any of their first round picks either; at best, they ended up g...
| New Orleans Saints Talk|| Armond Armstead...hope the Saints are in the hunt - adono on 1/13/13 at 10:11 am|
After the Miami Dolphins found pass rusher Cameron Wake in Canada and the Indianapolis Colts did the same with linebacker Jerrell Freeman, teams now are looking closely at former USC and Toronto Argonauts standout defensive tackle Armond Armstead, according to sources.
| New Orleans Saints Talk|| The whole defensive coaching staff should go. - adono on 12/30/12 at 6:03 pm|
Yeah, yeah, yeah I know all about it takes time and this was the first year under this staff, but that doesn't fly. This defense didn't improve one bit from start to finish.
There were no adjustments in schemes or personnel even though the team was giving up yards faster than a hooker giving out...
| Coaching Changes|| It's all about the money - adono on 12/2/12 at 6:48 am|
If, and that's a big if, Arkansas is willing to pay $5 mill (+) a season for a coach, they have a legit shot of hiring someone most on here think is untouchable...that's top dollar.
I don't know the financial situation at Tennessee or Auburn but they both have to factor in "buy outs" into the bud...
| Coaching Changes|| When the smoke clears, it'll be - adono on 11/30/12 at 3:26 pm|

| SEC Rant|| Jimbo doesn't like the new playoff format. So, here's a solution. - adono on 11/13/12 at 3:25 pm|
Jimbo: "I think it stinks. I think the BCS and how we go with all these computers and all this stuff, I think we're ruining it," Fisher said. "I'm going to tell you what, the [impending] playoff which we have right now ain't going to solve it either. What's the playoff going to solve? I mean you'...
| Coaching Changes|| How much cash will be put on the table? - adono on 11/12/12 at 3:50 pm|
It's a pretty safe bet that there will be 4 openings for coaches in the SEC at the end of the season. The competition for a quality coach is going to be off the charts because you have 3 solid football schools (Tennessee, Auburn, and Arkansas) that want to get back on the right track and then there'...
| Coaching Changes|| Has there ever been more coaching changes at one time? - adono on 11/11/12 at 8:58 am|
Unless there's a miracle for certain teams, it appears there will be at least 4 SEC coaches gone at the end of the year:
I was trying to think if there's ever been more changes in a single year and couldn't come up with one.
That makes it tough when you'r...

Ask Cleo Fields that question. We know the answer already.
