| New Orleans Saints Talk|| Don't forget about PRob at CB next season - Geauxgurt on 3/11/14 at 11:37 pm|
I think people are overlooking P Rob's potential as our 2nd CB this coming season. He showed serious flashes in 2011 and even in 2012. His development was a bit stunted with the Spags zone cover debacle which went away from his strengths, but I think he has a chance to be a legit corner for this tea...
| New Orleans Saints Talk|| To clarify to some, Cam Jordan isn't a guaranteed FA next season - Geauxgurt on 3/9/14 at 6:48 pm|
Saints have the right to get a 5th year from him as a 1st rounder. His compensation will then be based on his draft position, which will give him the average of the top 4-25 paid DEs the previous year. It is akin to a franchise tag but better for the team and was agreed upon in the new CBA.
| New Orleans Saints Talk|| Is Jimmy Graham worth more than Gronk? - Geauxgurt on 2/26/14 at 5:22 pm|
Ok, so given the supposed gap in Jimmy and the Saints for his new contract, let's see what everyone thinks in this comparison. I think it is fair to say that both Gronk and Jimmy have had great QBs throwing to them, so that would be a wash. I also think it is very clear to anyone with a brain that G...

| New Orleans Saints Talk|| Let's look at how a Brees restructure would potentially work - Geauxgurt on 1/14/14 at 11:25 am|
Brees' contract was 5 years for $100 Million with a signing bonus of $37 million.
His current signing bonus hits each year at $7.4 million. That is fixed for the most part as a cap hit each year.
He is owed a base salary of $10.75 M next season + his cap hit + a $250,000 workout bonus.
| New Orleans Saints Talk|| For those worried about Cam's contract after next season - Geauxgurt on 1/13/14 at 2:43 pm|
As a 1st round member of the 2011 draft class, the Saints have the option to extend Jordan for a 5th year at an average of the 25 highest players at his position.
What this means is that it is kind of like a mini-franchise tag that must be applied by May 3rd of this year.
His salary would like...
| Tiger Rant|| 2014 Defensive line - Geauxgurt on 1/7/14 at 3:53 pm|
Since we now know that Freak and Ego are gone, looking at the DL players and the potential rotations will be interesting. I think the rotations look a bit like this (not including potential incoming recruits):
LaCouture ------- Thomas
M. Johnson ------ Herron*

| New Orleans Saints Talk|| Despite their road record, the Saints aren't as bad as some think - Geauxgurt on 1/3/14 at 2:23 pm|
They have 5 road losses. 2 came on last second drives against both 2 seeds in the playoffs. Another came off key missed FGs against the Jets.
Clearly, they arent as good statistically on offense and turnovers have been killers in several of the losses, but it's not as dire as some make it out to...

| New Orleans Saints Talk|| Poor replacement of departed position coaches - Geauxgurt on 12/23/13 at 12:31 pm|
While I know everyone wants to blame talent for the OL and WR issues this year, but both are more likely due to the losses of Curtis Johnson and Kromer, two top guys, with mediocre to bad replacements.
WR corp was subpar starting last season and OL reall struggling this season. It's not s coinci...
| New Orleans Saints Talk|| CB situation next year - Geauxgurt on 12/18/13 at 11:36 am|
Reading lots of talk on this board about drafting a CB in the top 3 rounds of the draft this year.
While I understand the current situation pushing most to think about that, is the CB situation next year as bad as some think?
Assuming no more major injuries, your CB depth next season will be:
| Political Talk|| Question on race and how its definitions change for convenience - Geauxgurt on 12/17/13 at 2:19 pm|
Reading through the black Santa thread, and question came to mine.
This isn't directed at any race in particular, but to everyone in general.
Why is it that people will openly claim that a group is not like them, until conveniently they need it to back up some random or ridiculous assertion.
| New Orleans Saints Talk|| Ingalls is the biggest issue on the OL. - Geauxgurt on 12/16/13 at 3:26 pm|
Whether people want to accept that or not, the entire line has regressed under his coaching this season. Kromer was a huge loss, and the Saints, decided to switch Ingalls from RB coach to OL coach, which was utterly stupid.
DLP is a prime example. He played so well last season, yet Kromer leaves...

I am not saying that he is or isn't going to UT, but given he has a player being honored on Saturday as a Heisman finalist, would it not be strange for Saban to:
1) Go representing Bama if he's taken the UT job.
2) Jilt AJ and not go?
Seems a bit of a strange situation if you ask me. ...
| New Orleans Saints Talk|| Any updates on Butler? - Geauxgurt on 12/9/13 at 5:31 pm|

New Orleans is 6-0 against Carolina with Payton on the sidelines.

| New Orleans Saints Talk|| Winning 3 of the next 4 guarantees the division and the 2-seed - Geauxgurt on 12/2/13 at 11:31 pm|
Starting with a win next week, the Saints could wrap up the 2-seed and rest the last week of the season.
Seattle will be the 1-seed, but they haven't been invincible at home including struggles against Tampa and Tennessee. They could lose in the second round to a team like San Fran or Carolina.
