I like it as cut some costs and eliminates some absences

Worry about non classified and support staff that are hourly but they can go 4/10

Are work days going to be cut down as well?

Seems it would create more problems for parents, than anything else.

ETA - I think this is only possible in rural places, like in the article. It's funny they are doing this to save a big $50,000, a year.

How about the thousands of politicians on Missouri take a pay cut and put it towards education in their state instead of killing rural areas? They suck at their jobs anyway.

I already raise other people's kids which is why I like it. Some parents expect us to raise their kids and be the proxy parent

I think it could work in a metro area also.

That was an objective and goal of the Teachers Union when I was in politics in the 80's. No pay cut, no, but a cut in work days. Union goal.

Did you even read the article? This is being done in rural Missouri, where I'm sure the average income isn't very great. It's being done to save $50k a year because politicians keep cutting their budget.

I know school isn't technically a day care, but it essentially replaces the day care at a certain age.

So, my question to you, would you let your young child stay at home alone? Or, are you going to pay more for daycares on the day they're not at school and you and the wife are at work? Or, are one of y'all going to have to find new jobs to fit this new schedule so you can be at home on that extra off day? Etc etc, I could go on and on.

Seems this is a bigger inconvenience for parents than anything else.

It's a very poor district my cousin teaches there. She loves teaching there though. She's had chances to move on but stayed as she is loyal, they gave her a job right out of school.

The parents in the district are for the 4 day schedule.

I had a incentive idea. With the laptops pretty much everywhere...set up a curriculum as to where if a student can maintain an "A" with doing the assignments at home and show up on Friday and acing the tests. That would give kids more incentive to get off their asses. If you drop to a B then add a day at school...idk, just a thought.

If I ever have kids, their mother won't work.

I think they need to do that. I also think TOPS should be cut and send that money to lower education. Not everyone should go to college.

Parents will love having to find child care for their kids every week.

I would love to have a 4 day work week. I'd be willing to work ten hours a day to make it even out.
