That's for public consumption; the Tea Party love the guy.

But VP is mostly ceremonial...speeches and what not. Backing up the Pres in the press. They need Ryan in the trenches...smart, honest and brave dude.

Leave him as Budget Chairman. Much more effective there, actually driving policy.

Ryan is from a swing state. Wisc is crucial. And Obama knows it. My most recent email from the DNC:

Friend --

Technically, I didn't win Dinner with Barack. My wife Cathy did, and she picked me as her guest.

I still can't believe our -- OK, Cathy's -- luck. Not many people get to know the President and First Lady: Two incredibly warm, smart, down-to-earth people with their share of hilarious parenting stories. At the end of the night, the President even wrote a note to our babysitter thanking her for watching the boys. Really!

Let's just say I'm going to have a tough time topping this night.

So enter today, then talk everyone you know into doing the same -- and don't forget to be extra nice in case they're considering you as their guest:

Good luck,

John L.
Wauwatosa, WI

End of email............

So, who here thinks that it's a coincidence that the winner was from Wisconsin instead of a non-battle ground state?

That's what I'm thinking, Z. Just that with Romney vetting Ryan...and obviously showing that he will be holding high sway in a Romney adm., that will be enough to swing Wisconsin.

We need to cut deep into Obama's Hispanic vote. When the Superpacs ATTACK Obama/Holder on GUNRUNNING TO THE DRUG CARTELS...resulting in the mass killing of Hispanics...there will be a big opportunity there. Enter...Rubio. We win!

I like Rubio for the spot a lot. And Fla. is also a battleground state. Since La. is not one (see my other thread) Jindal is not a good choice for VP.

Agree with this.

I hope Ryan stays true to course ... in time, he could make a fine POTUS.

There are a few other relative newbies that I'm keeping an eye on.

I concur with the others. Ryan has an immediate role, while higher office will be there for him later.

The GOP needs to go with history and grab a veep from the South or Texas.

Otto...you sneakin snake in the grass. The Tea Party holds power...and they have HAD IT with the Bushs. RHINOS...pure and simple. They are what got us in this mess. They'd make that Convention Hall look like a Democratic march. Heathens coming unglued...if Romney were to even allow Jeb to speak.

Tell me that's not true. Billy Mays or Ron Popeil could have made fortunes shilling for the Dem party today.

I could sit at home chewing on a wad on aluminum foil while watching a replay of the 2011 BCSCG and still consider it a better night than one spent with barry and shelle.

Gee whiz...this thread went to hell in short order!

Wonder if he wrote a note to all the Mexican mothers and family that got SPLATTERED with those 50 cals. Or even the Terrys or Zapatas?

Disgusting useful idiots!
