So basically Churkin somehow ended up on a donor mailing list for McCain, and he got chumpmail seeking a contribution. To which he responded with a beatdown of a letter.

It's much ado about nothing, but it looks bad. Couldn't happen to a nicer cuck. John McCuck (D).

Right. A form letter than anyone could have sent. Hence the "bullshite" piece. Do you think anyone with any position in McCain's campaign solicited a donation not from just any old foreign actor (which their counsel would tell them was illegal) but overtly to a highly-ranked Russian serving in a post in the United States?

Pretty much.

Probably not. But you asked for the text of the letter.

I'm assuming it was either a prank or some kind of interference. We know the Russians tried to get their dirty little liquored-up fingers in 2008 and 2012 elections as well.

Which didn't go anywhere because obviously whoever saw it (from the government in power that had just run against McCain) realized it was bullshite.

McCain isn't known for his warm relations with the Russians.

Why don't you produce the letter for us. Like paste the text. I'm not downloading some Kremlin spywear from Ruskieleaks.

It's a 7-8 page pdf. I have no way of saving the file as an image and posting it here. I'm on my phone.

Here is the link to the letter: https://file.wikileaks.org/file/mccain-to-vitaly-churkin-2008.doc

No point in trying. The entire thing could be easily fabricated and it was a standard fundraising letter from McCain.

Pretty sure we already sussed that out. I don't even know why Gumbo brings some of this weak propagandist shite here.

Can you imagine the liberal outrage if such a letter existed with Trump's name on it rather than McCain's.

Chernobyl level melting.

I agree that this is nothing. It's just fun to note that difference on how this is covered.

How did the post office accidentally deliver this mass mailer to the Kremlin? That's the real mystery here.

I have no love lost for McCain at all, but to be fair, according to the letter posted, it was sent to the Russian ambassador at his New York address, not Moscow...and also this looks like one of those mass mailings sent out to people subscribed or signed up for their lists. Someone could have easily signed him up for this without his knowledge with his name and address.

The response letter from Russia is a bit overkill.

Wow. That kind of makes McCain a hypocrite but we already knew that about him.

Didn't the discredited Pissgate rumors come from his staff?

Well I try not to deal in hypotheticals too much, but this one is some contrived and low-rent that it probably wouldn't pique anyone's interest on either side. Hell the #Nevertrumpers wouldn't bite.

I hope people are starting to see Ruskieleaks for what it is.

As much as I hate McCain, this sounds like a Russian ambassador got signed up for a campaign bulk mail newsletter.

Not defending or condemning McCain for this one. But it occurs to me that this boilerplate letter could have been routed to the Ruskies by the Demobama dirty tricks machine, as a stealth weapon to sit dormant unless or until needed if the campaign got tight - October Surprise style. Media fest time.

Sure, but fill up the board with fake news citing anonymous IC sources implicating a close relationship between Putin and Trump full of inferance and ambiguity.
