re: Why Texas bans the sale of Tesla cars

Not only do they protect the franchise system, they also insist on keeping the archaic blue law in place that forces dealers to be closed on either Saturday or Sunday.

What is the number one item that keeps Texas's economy from being superior to Mississippi's? Energy jobs from the natural resources it has.

Electric cars directly threaten Texas.

One day all cars will all be electric/battery powered and Texas economy will be in shambles.

Mostly from coal...some from solar...some from nuclear. Not from oil or petrochemical...which is Texas's mainstay.

You think gasoline is the only petrochemical product? You think electric cars will not be made from any petrochemical products or won't use some in their operation?

Rick Perry told all the folks in California that Texas is open for business.

What happened?

Wow you have no clue how diverse the energy portfolio is in Texas and where electricity comes from.

Coal is on the way out due to the low cost of nat gas and excessive and intrusive EPA regulations from the Obama administration. More and more coal is being sold over seas to countries like China.

Old coal fire plants are being retooled or demolished and rebuilt for nat gas. see the FPL plant in Florida a few weeks ago.

Texas has vast nat gas reserves.

Texas is one of the largest wind power states (disclosure I am a wind tech)

Solar power accounts for less than 1% of all power put on to the grid.

Most people have not a clue about how "the grid" works and that the Texas grid is one of the 3 primary grids in the US and Canada.

so how much money will musk have to use for bribes.. I mean lobbyists in order to gain economic freedom in Texas?

If he is delivering as hot a product as everyone is saying, he won't have to.

All he has to do is campaign to the people that only thing between them and a Tesla, is the legislature and governor who like to run around telling everyone how business is welcome in Texas.

Texans are pretty sharp, the light will come on and shine down on the antiquated franchise system that until now no one paid much attention to.
