If a politicians stance on weed affects you in any way you need to re-evaluate your life

I support legal weed but honestly it's very low on the totem poll of political priorities for me

It's dumb you can go to jail over a plant.

It's not particularly important but does point to being out of touch.

It's easy to rationalize things when your guy is in power, isn't it

Because marijuana laws put a lot of people in jail and prison for something that really isn't that important.

Say that to the people who lost federal student loans and grants, who were jailed, or are in prison. It actually does matter.

I get it that people get screwed over, but I'm not surprised that a 173 year old white male from the South is anti-weed.

Why, more than any other political issue, does the topic of marijuana make people constantly ask "why do you care?" Or say "there's more important things to worry about."

Feigning your lack of care about marijuana impresses no one. You aren't a better person because you don't care. You're just someone who picks and chooses what freedoms are important while trying to act superior to those who think all freedoms should be defended.

As I said in another thread

I'm an adult who wouldn't be smoking weed if it was totally legal (for job reasons if nothing else). With that said it is important because it is a bellweather issue to determine whether someone is for or against small government.

Drug criminalization and the WOD are issues that every small government conservative should be against. These are programs that the government could implement relatively easily, thereby reducing spending and increasing personal liberty.

While it ultimately doesn't have a big impact on me, I want politicians that support small government. If you are against this quintessential small government decision then you are unlikely to support other small government policies.

Additionally the primary support for marijuana criminality these days is lobbyists who represent LEOs, for-profit prisons, and pharmaceutical companies. If you want to "drain the swamp" then removing anyone who is supported by those lobbies is a good place to start.

It is stupid to not take advantage of medicinal properties of marijuana.

It's a plant which threatens the integrity and construction of a very deep rooted (no pun intended) lobbyist structure on behalf of big cotton, big tobacco and big pharma and the economic interest all involved parties share within.

Yeah it's dumb without a doubt.

Especially when you consider the powers that be don't care about those affected to feel better or find relief.

I'm not surprised either, but maybe we shouldn't appoint said 173 year old to lead the Department of Justice

It's a quick way to tell if he's either a moron and/or bought and paid for by the privatized prison complex.

fricking insurance. It would just be a massive waste of time and money if not for the incentive to lower worker's comp insurance.

I ask all the time, how many people do you think are incarcerated in Angola, Hunt and DCI prisons in LA for just marijuana? Marijuana offenders are sent to diversion programs.

I am sorry but at this time it is VERY important. If you do not live in a state where it is legal you are helping finance criminals in your town, a nationwide distribution network and the cartels. If smoking dope is your primary issue YOU have issues.

There is a LOT of pot coming across the southern border and someone is smoking it or it wouldn't be coming in.

Work to change the laws. I myself believe we should legalize it undercut Pedro's prices to run him out of the business and of course tax it. Sell it and treat it just like alcohol and make the penalties very stiff for selling or giving it to minors

As I said work to change the laws in your state. Until then you are a GD criminal IMO.

$$$ thats why. stop bitching about deficits when you are blowing money on arresting and keeping people in jail for a fricking plant. its ridiculous. Some conservatives do not want their tax money going to PP, well dammit i dont want my tax dollars going to "the war on pot"
