Why should CNN expect fair treatment from Trump?

My thing is that respect for journalists is a two way street.
Our system has assigned the press/media the important role of being the "Fourth Pillar" of our republic.
When the press/media abandons the role of watchman and chooses instead to openly and proudly take on the role of advocacy at best and attack dog at worst for one side of the political spectrum, in my mind they cede their pretentious expectations of being treated with respect as guardians and journalists.
CNN is the poster child for this.
They willfully destroyed all of their credibility leading to the election and now ridiculously expect to be treated with some hallowed respect as journalists.

Because their mommy told them they were special little flowers.

I'd say they are currently getting treatment from Trump that is quite fair relative to their own behavior and deeds.

A role that is not without checks and balances. CNN crossed the line repeatedly in the past 12 months and needs to be checked. Hard.

He has already dressed down Zucker once.
He should have Spicer inform him that none of his reporters will be allowed on the White House grounds for 3 months, pending review.

They might be better described as a "Fifth Column" than a 4th pillar. :rimshot:
But seriously though...

Jake Tapper and Donna Brazil were giving questions to Clinton's team before town halls. Regardless of how they handled pissgate, they deserve the wrath of our great leader.

They are getting better than they deserve at this point... when he gives them the boot from the WH pool it's a level playing field again. Time to earn your place as the public "watchdog" by balancing your agenda.
Shouldn't come to this, but they've brought it upon themselves. News is a rare commodity these days - Propaganda rules.

Unfortunately, the government (federal communications commission) doesn't regulate these "non-broadcast" entities.

Because no one has ever stood up to these idiots.
They're fricking with the real deal now.

It is shameful that the likes of CNN want to hide behind the sanctity of the press/media while showing complete disregard for the standards of their profession.

Because a lot of media outlets will cover for them.
ABC local news covered the exchange as:
Trump was mean to reporter.
They then had an "expert" explain that the prez should not be mean to reporters. There was no explanation as to why why Trump responded the way he did.

Trump branding CNN "fake news" from the Bully Pulpit at major, publicized news conferences is going to hurt them bad. They earned it.

Hopefully nbc is next. They just as bad.
