(CNN) -- If it had happened anywhere else, this would be the world's biggest story.

More than 230 girls disappeared, captured by members of a brutal terrorist group in the dead of night. Their parents are desperate and anguished, angry that their government is not doing enough. The rest of the world is paying little attention.

The tragedy is unfolding in Nigeria, where members of the ultra-radical Islamist group Boko Haram grabbed the girls, most believed to be between 16 and 18, from their dormitories in the middle of the night in mid-April and took them deep into the jungle. A few dozen of the students managed to escape and tell their story. The others have vanished. (Roughly 200 girls remain missing.)

The latest reports from people living in the forest say Boko Haram fighters are sharing the girls, conducting mass marriages, selling them each for $12. One community elder explained the practice as "a medieval kind of slavery."

While very sad that this occurred, it is not our problem. We are not the world's police force. If U.S. interests or lives are not at risk, then the U.S. should not be involved in any way. I can only speak for this great country.

I'm not looking for police action. I'm looking for media attention. Shine a spotlight on this story with intensive media coverage.

Give CNN a chance to find that plane first sheesh. Who do you think works there, Scooby Doo and the gang? CNN knows better than to split up while searching for clues.

One more heinous act committed by the most violent group of people on the planet.

Can you imagine the fallout if a conservative Christian group had committed an atrocity even 1% as deplorable as this?

The government of Nigeria is probably not interested in inviting a bunch of western governments to help out militarily. It makes the largest country in Africa look bad, and while this is rather shocking it's only 200 people.

Plus, there's already plenty of money going into the fight against Boko Haram.

I hate to say it, but when something good happens down in that area of the world, it is the exception.

From ethnic wars to civil wars to rebel groups to "terrorist" groups, fighting in that area is endemic and sadly you can not military away a civil war.

Very simply by being Christian girls kidnapped by Muslim men who get passes on their atrocities left and right in Northern Africa from east to west.

I agree with the sentiment which has already been expressed. There's no white guy to blame, so what's the point?

Mainstream media doesn't like stories reiterating the fact that Africa is an unfixable shithole.
